Using Media to Support Your Business

Many business owners only rely on advertising to promote their business. Actually, there is a simple yet effective way to promote products and build public awareness of your business, which is by using media as your partner.
You do not have to spend money to advertise in newspapers, radio or TV. You only need to help the media in reporting some cases. For example, if your region is facing financial crisis, you can be one of the media sources. You can share the information of your company's condition as an impact of the regional financial crisis. If people are reading news about your company, they will be more familiar with your business.
You can also participate in various events, such as business exhibition. You can invite journalists from various media to cover your activities. That way, you can also describe the products you offer. This method is considered more 'friendly' than advertising in media which only displays brief information about your products.
Press releases can also be a great way to support your business. If you are going to offer a new product to the market, you can send a press release to the media so that they can provide a 'quick peek' of your new product to the readers.
Maintaining a closer relationship with the press can also be a good idea. You can spend time with them in some informal events. It will help you in building personal relationships with the journalists. This approach will also provide many benefits for you as journalists will often contact you if they need a source for the business articles they write.
