Using Hypnosis to Harness the Power of Your Subconscious Mind

by Sophia S. Writing

People have been found to be able to do extraordinary things while in a state of hypnosis, things such as eating a raw onion like an apple or being suspended across two chairs only with their head and feet. These amazing things are possible because hypnosis affects the area of the brain that controls the functioning of the subconscious mind.

Research and Hypnosis

In an article for the American Psychological Society, Brendon Smith writes, “Even though stage hypnotists and TV shows have damaged the public image of hypnosis, a growing body of scientific research supports (hypnosis) benefits in treating a wide range of conditions, including pain, depression, anxiety and phobias.”

Research has found that hypnosis is far more than just a party trick, it has actually been found to change how the brain takes in and processes information. In fact, San Diego Hypnotherapy has been found to have many uses including easing pain, improving sleep, or overcoming symptoms of depression or anxiety.

Hypnosis has also been found to help cancer patients successfully deal with painful chemo treatments.

Presently researchers are performing clinical trials using MRI's in order to better understand the brain activity of people in the state of hypnosis in comparison to non-hypnosis-induced people while performing certain functions. The goal is to measure activity in certain areas of the brain,

These researchers have found that when the subjects are in the state of hypnosis, their brain activity is more focused and able to act at a higher level.

Practice Improves Results

Some people who have practiced hypnosis can snap into a hypnotic state almost instantaneously. Just as increased levels of exercise strengthen the body, the more often hypnosis is practiced, the more likely the brain will respond quickly at that higher level.

Here’s another example of the power of hypnosis. A doctor placed a cold quarter on the back of the hand of a patient, telling him that it had just come out of a fire, and it was very, very hot. Even though the quarter was cold, the skin began to blister and burn.

While there's no possible way that the quarter could have burned the back of his hand, the hand was still burned, all though the power of the subconisous mind.

Imagine being able to take control your mind to that degree even while not in the state of hypnosis. This doesn’t mean burning the back of your hand, it means taking complete control of your emotional and physical well-being.

Hypnosis has the ability to help you harness the power of your subconscious mind. If you haven’t already tried it then why not give hypnosis a try?
