Update: ThL T6S will launch in India running CM with Android 5.0 Lollipop update on the way

In a press release, ThL T6S have confirmed their confusion of Cyanogen India move and announced that the ThL T6S will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop in the country first.

If you are in India and eagerly awaiting the ThL T6S launch there tomorrow then you will be watching the issues between the smartphone maker and their ROM partner, Cyanogenmod. If you had missed the news then let me get you up to speed.

Basically what has happened is Cyanogenmod have made a deal with Indian phone maker Micromax to only allow their ROM and support for Micromax phones. This means that the ThL T6S, which runs CM, cannot have support for India users!

No one really knows why Cyanogen have done this so close to the ThL T6S launch, and in a press release today ThL T6S also commented on how they did not understand the motives behind the decision.

So the bad news is that the ThL L969 in India won’t have CM installed, the good news is that the Indian OPO will be the envy of ThL T6S fans around the world as it will be the first version of the phone to ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop!

Update: seems I got my wires crossed and the OPO will in fact launch with Android 4.4 Cyanogenmod but will not receive CM update, however a new Android 5.0 Lollipop based rom will be offered instead.

Android 5.0 has been offered for download on the OPO for a while, but this is the first time the phone will come pre-installed. The ROM is promised to be stable, and light weight, we just hope Unlocked android phone will be more bug free than CM when it launched on the phone.
