Understanding the Types of Hypertension

by Well Topia The Primum Healthcare and Life Enhancement Center

Hypertension, another name for high blood pressure is quite common across the globe. It is a condition when your blood pressure readings cross the normal reading of 120/80 mm Hg. An elevation in your systolic blood pressure, between 120 and 129, or a fall in your diastolic blood pressure, below 80, means that you have high blood pressure.

However, if your systolic pressure crosses 130 mm Hg, and the diastolic value crosses 80 mm Hg, then you have what is called hypertension. While elevated blood pressure can be brought to normal levels by some minimal changes in the lifestyle, a condition of hypertension includes medical treatment. That’s when you need to visit a Hypertension specialist in Delhi.

Types of hypertension

Malignant hypertension

While normal high blood pressure might exhibit no symptoms at all, malignant hypertension has symptoms that are quite noticeable:

·         Reduced urine output

·         Weakness in the arms and legs

·         A change in the vision

·         Chest pain and anxiety

·         Shortness of breath

·         Headaches and nausea

Pulmonary hypertension

This type of hypertension is usually serious and can be fatal. Most forms of this type of hypertension are not curable, but for some of them, there are treatments that help reduce the following symptoms:

·         Fall in the appetite

·         Fatigue

·         Chest pain

·         Shortness of breath

·         Abdominal pain

·         Racing heartbeat

Resistant hypertension

Resistant hypertension is the type of hypertension in which the blood pressure levels remain and fail to reduce despite continuous efforts. This means that the underlying cause of your hypertension is different, which could be the following:

·         Hormonal imbalance

·         Sleep apnea

·         Obesity

·         Heavy alcohol intake

·         Renal artery stenosis

White coat hypertension

This type of hypertension is a condition in which the patient has higher blood pressure reading when measured by a doctor at a clinic, and low otherwise. It is a common phenomenon and is experienced by many people.

Pseudo-hypertension

This type of hypertension is more common in senior citizens, in which the blood pressure machine gives a false elevated blood pressure reading. This type of condition occurs due to the calcification or the blood vessels, which are hard to compress.

Isolated systolic hypertension

This type of hypertension arises when the systolic reading crosses 200 mmHg. It is a very high level and needs immediate treatment. A greater level means a higher risk of heart disease.

Conclusion

In the case of hypertension, getting the right diagnosis is absolutely crucial. So if you suffer from any of the aforementioned types, then visit a hypertension clinic in Delhi for better treatment of the same.
