Unable to Access the Internet after Installing a McAfee Security Suite

Solution to fix internet issue after installing and activating McAfee Security Suite:

Step 1: Verify your application access


Step 2: Now double-click the M shield icon in your taskbar


Step 3: Click Web and Email Protection


Step 4: Click the Firewall link


Step 5: Now see if in the Firewall options window, confirm that the Firewall is on


Step 6: Click the Program Permissions drawer


Now the most important task is to scroll through the list and make note of any applicable rules that you may have created, especially the block rules


Now it’s time to grant outbound access to programs that require internet connectivity.


Note: Some applications need the internet connection to run while you are using your PC or Mac.


For examples:

  • exe- Printer Spooler Subsystem (This allows you to print to a network printer.)
  • exe- Internet Explorer (This is a Microsoft browser.)
  • exe- Microsoft Outlook (This is an email client.)
  • exe- Microsoft Outlook Express (This is an email client.)


Step 7: Restore Firewall defaults


Step 8: Click Restore Defaults.


Note: If you have re-set your firewall defaults then it will erase all customized settings. Maybe you cued to allow or deny a range of applications on your PC or Mac or to re-add any customized port grant you to create for other applications in your PC or Mac.


Important Note: Your firewall defaults will not provide you another warning that will help you to Restore Defaults button.


Now after you click Restore Defaults, the Security Center maybe helps you for network or application permissions. Pay attention while confirming your local network and ensure that you select the Home button only.


If you still cannot access the Internet:

Maybe your personal Firewall unable to mechanically configure your set-up. This can happen only when your PC or Mac have another firewall installed, or multiple network adapters enabled, or your network has configured LAN Properties inappropriately.


This setting temporarily disables your McAfee Personal Firewall to test your Internet connection:


  • Now double-click the M shield icon in your taskbar.
  • Click Web and Email Protection.
  • Click the Firewall link.
  • In the Firewall options window,
  • Click the Turn Off button.
  • McAfee Firewall will confirm from you that you want to stop the service with a popup message.
  • Select a resume time, and then click Turn Off.
  • Your security status will be changed from green to red and this is normal.
  • Now it’s time to test your Internet connection.
  • After your testing is complete, either turn the firewall back on or restart your computer.


If you are still unable to connect to the Internet with the firewall turned off, however, the issue is with some other application or service, contact McAfee.com/Activate toll-free number.


For assistance with your operating system or network connections, contact your computer manufacturer or your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Then your computer manufacturer and ISP may request that you completely uninstall your McAfee Personal Firewall. After you have your networking reconfigured, reinstall Personal Firewall.
