Trying to Become A Bodyguard? Getting Accredited Matters.

by Executive Protection Institute EPI was founded in 1978

So you want to be a bodyguard? Then let us start by helping out. These days, the politically correct phrase is not "bodyguard," but personal protection specialist, executive protection specialist, or close protection operative, depending on your place of training and other preferences.

Do not be lulled into believing that your past accomplishments alone are all you need in the executive protection industry.

If you are thinking of entering this field, you should skillfully gain momentum to rise to the top of your game. Pay your dues to play by getting accredited. The competition in this industry is ruthless, so you need to spend every second you can to improve your skills and develop yourself to be better than the competition.

By getting accredited, you are in a class of your own. The U.S. Department of Labor predicts a substantial increase in employment opportunities in the personal protection industry. The EP and security industry as a whole is one of the fastest-growing professions. Executives need protection, and they are willing to pay great money to get it. That is why corporate bodyguards are in such demand. However, if you get accredited, you will be more than just a bodyguard; you will be a corporate executive protection specialist. In this industry, high protective performance and accreditation are simply expected. Learn to play the game by getting accredited. It will be worth your trouble, and the rewards are great. Sound easy? It is.

Read good books in the industry that offer accreditation, take a home study course, or attend a prestigious bodyguard school. Doing these activities will make you a contender for either an entry-level or a top job in the industry, depending on your experience level. Getting accredited is a career-maker; likewise, not getting your accreditation could be a career-breaker. Accreditations will help you land a job in the industry and give you a chance to do what you always wanted.

Remember: Before you go ahead and start your glorious career, you would better clear things with your family. They will see you a lot lesser than they ever did. Even personal protection training is so hard that you will have no energy left to call home. But it is an exciting job. One day you may be driving around with a CEO, making sure that none of his former employees attack him. The day after, you will have to go to Aruba while protecting some actor, and after a week of sun, you are back in your home city protecting a battered woman testifying against her psychotic ex-spouse. There are so many possibilities. That is IF you can stay focused and keep training until you master your skills.

Despite the downturn in the economy, opportunities continue to exist in the corporate bodyguard industry, so master it with the best skills you can afford. Get back to basic and study, have an old-school hardcore mentality to do your best in this industry with hard work and dedication. Leave your comfort zone and soar into a new career.
