Tracking Time in QuickBooks Desktop and Online

Its simplicity in its early days -- more than a few years ago -- helped consumers understand QuickBooks gradually, since Intuit started out with a bare-bones framework and was not quick to enhance functionality.
QuickBooks 2013 widened the gap between the two, although QuickBooks Online has steadily grown to be a worthy competitor for its own sister merchandise.
Require time-tracking, for instance. It's a simple, clear procedure. Simple to master in the two versions, time-tracking tools in the desktop version are somewhat different compared to the ones offered by its desktop counterpart. The core functionality is extremely similar, but each includes a couple of unique features.
First, let us look at QuickBooks Online's time-tracking. Assuming you have switched on each of the features possible in Preferences (Business | Preferences), your display will look like this once you have input a single activity (Workers | Single Activity Time Sheet).
You may see how you would use QuickBooks Online's time tracking tool to get information about a single billable occasion. You Simply click on the arrows adjacent to fields like Name, Date and Customer. You may either input the total time spent on that job or input a beginning, finish and break time, and QuickBooks Online will compute the hours worked.
This procedure can go quite quickly if you've already established worker, service and customer records. If you haven't, then you can click on the << Add New >> option in the lists which fall right down and provide the necessary information on the fly.
Now let us look with an entry for a single service activity in the desktop version of QuickBooks 2013 quickbooks support.
A finished billable time entrance in QuickBooks 2013 You would get to this screen by opening the Staff menu, and then selecting Enter Time | Time/Enter Single Activity. Information is entered exactly the exact same manner as in QuickBooks Online -- by selecting options from drop-down menus, putting checkmarks in boxes and occasionally typing. Record data could be inserted on the fly here, too.
As you can see, you are able to enter start and stop times in QuickBooks Online, at which QuickBooks 2013 enables you to begin, pause and stop a timer. QuickBooks Online includes a field for Territory, and QuickBooks 2013 does not. Although you can not see it here, it is possible to start the weekly timesheet while the single activity screen is still available in desktop QuickBooks. You can not do this in QuickBooks Online.
Suffice it to say, both are quite competent time-trackers, and each might appeal to different classes of consumers.
