Top four Major Golf Tournaments for the Fortune 500 Companies

by Elizabeth DeLuca Tickets and Hospitality

The four major men’s golf tournaments are played annually – 3 in the United States and 1 in the United Kingdom. These are the Masters Tournament, U.S. Open, the Open Championship (or British Open) and the PGA Championship, taking place in that order in the calendar year. These four esteemed tournaments are known as the Major Championships.

Due to the history and tradition of these tournaments, they are the most elite championships in professional golf, all the top players from around the world will gather to compete. There is so much more at stake than simply prize money – prestige, reputation, fame and honor are the actual rewards.

It is no wonder that the major golf tournament tickets are in high demand. Golf hospitality packages are especially popular because they provide an unforgettable experience for the clients, which can include accommodation, meals and beverages, golfing, tours around the golf course, and of course watching the best golfers in action. These are also especially prominent among the Fortune 500 companies, CEOs and executives are regular clients when it comes to corporate hospitality packages.  This does not come as a surprise considering how many businessmen and women take interest in golf, and also keeping in mind the number of these companies that are involved in sports through sponsorships or otherwise.

The Masters Tournament is the first of the majors to be played in the calendar year. It is played in the first week of April and it is the only one that is always played at the same location – Augusta National Golf Club. Masters Tickets for this championship are sometimes very difficult to obtain and are usually sold out at least half a year prior the start of the tournament.

The U.S. Open and the PGA Championship (2nd and 4th respectively in the calendar year) both take place in various locations in the USA. The corporate hospitality packages for these tournaments are also sold well in advance and the prizes are quite high, but in return the fans, many of which occupy high positions in companies featured in the Fortune 500, are treated extremely well and get to see the best golfers compete for fame and prestige.

The British Open is the only one of the four major tournaments that is played in the United Kingdom. Nowadays, it takes place in either Scotland or England but it was held once in Northern Ireland in the past.  The British Open will be held at St. Andrews in 2015 and will have golf fans flying in from everywhere.

Tickets and corporate hospitality packages are high in demand for all four tournaments.  It does not matter which event anyone chooses, these four major golf tournament tickets are the most sought after and are on all of the Fortune 500 companies entertainment list.
