Top 6 Innovative Ways You Can Use the Waste Water from RO Water Purifiers
by Eureka Forbes Home Appliance ProvidersWater purifiers
are no longer a luxury in our homes; they are necessities. If you live in a neighborhood
that gets water supply from bore wells or water that has a high level of total
dissolved solids (TDS), you would need to get home one of the RO water
purifiers. The reverse osmosis process ensures that water is passed
through a membrane and impurities are removed.
All
reverse osmosis purifiers expel waste water, in varying degrees. However, you
can easily reuse the waste water. Here are six innovative ways to use waste
water:
1.
How about storing the expelled water and using it to wash your car? Car washing
requires a lot of water, and the water that has been removed via RO can be used
for the same. If you have more than one car or two-wheeler at home, as most
urban Indians are wont to, then, you could really put all that expelled water
to great use.
2.
You could use water from RO for gardening. Store it, and water all the pots. If
you have a lawn, you could easily use the waste-water for your garden. However,
you should make sure to check if the plants are resistant to salts. A little
bit of homework on this, and you are good to go.
3.
The waste water from reverse osmosis can also be channelised into the cistern
of your toilet, for flushing.
4.
If the TDS level is low and there are no toxins in the waste water, you could
use it for washing vessels as well, in case there are tough stains on some of
them.
5.
Mopping floors and common areas of your apartment require a lot of water. If
you get to use water expelled from reverse osmosis for these purposes, you end
up saving a whole lot of water.
6.
You may not be able to use water with a rather high level of salts on certain
delicate clothes, but on some clothes, you could use them. How about using this
waste water to soak some really dirty rugs or carpets that need heavy duty
cleaning? You could use such water where you are in need of a bleaching agent
for some soiled clothes.
However, it is ideal that you get the water tested. If the TDS level is too high or there are toxins like arsenic, you should not be using the waste water. Like with anything else, use discretion and experts’ advice when in doubt.
