Social networking has become a popular way that people communicate and market their business and products. For some, it has become a way of life. Many begin their day logging onto their favorite social networking site to update their status, say hello to friends or upload new photos. Some of the most popular social networking websites include Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Myspace and Linkedin.

All of these websites are visited by millions of visitors each month. Popular brands use these websites to market their products to a wide audience each day. Since social networking has become such a popular way to communicate and advertise, there is even a variety of paidsocialmediajobs.

Facebook

People have begun using Facebook as a way to share their lives with friends and family. Before it became available to the public, it once was just available to college students and required a college email address to login. Today, millions of people log on with their computer or cell phone to update their status and share links and photos. Perhaps, some may share too much information, but sharing is a big part of what Facebook is about. According to ebizmba.com, Facebook has about 750,000,000 unique visitors each month.

Twitter

Twitter users can post statuses in short simple sentences with links and photos and get their message across quickly and instantly. Twitter has become a large part of social networking for large corporations and large television events such as the Grammy's, Oscar's and other award shows, Fans tweet their opinions about the current status of movie and television stars and who the awards are going to. Political events such as the Presidential Inauguration have used Twitter to follow other users who are tuning in as well.

MySpace

My Space was one of the first popular social network websites to arrive before Facebook became available to the public. Users were able to create a profile page that allowed them to share their likes, photos, favorite music and some information about themselves. People used MySpace for sharing music or for even finding that special someone. Today, MySpace is often used by musicians who share their music as they try to reach a wide audience.

Pinterest

Pinterest is one of the Internet's first version of a social scrapbook. Members of Pinterest share their favorite images that are often categorized into home and garden, food, “about me,” pets and arts and crafts. Large companies and small businesses use images of their products to advertise their brand and reach a larger audience.

Friends use Pinterest to share their interests and opinions on a variety of everyday ideas. Some may use Pinterest to plan a wedding, redecorate a home or even to share photos of their pets. Artists use it as an online scrapbook to show off their recent pieces of artwork. Some can place prices to sell their items on Pinterest too.

Linkedin

Linkedin has become the new online job resource center. Those who sign up a Linkedin can post their online resume and various job talents. It is a great way to network and meet possible employers and employees. A variety of companies have joined Linkedin in hopes to search for new employees and share their brand as well.

Those who are employed by the same company can meet other employees and share ideas too. Members who are logged into the website can search for jobs, meet potential employers and even get hired. Some jobs may include writing, marketing and advertising, television, restaurant, retail and even paid social media jobs.
