Top 5 Reasons Why it is More Fun in the Philippines

by Maria Marilyn M. Freelance writer, blogger, SEO/SMM

By this time, you might have seen the latest Ludlum “Bourne” series which is “The Bourne Legacy.”  You might have seen some places in the Philippines where the movie was partially shot.  You got to see beaches and slums.  Yes, totally extreme. But you need to explore and travel the country to see more of the rest and have fun.  Thus, the slogan: “It’s More Fun in the Philippines!”  Why?

Beaches

You can find almost anything that you want when it comes to sea, sand, and sun in this country.  If you want first class and luxurious amenities, you have five star resorts in Boracay, Palawan, Cebu, and in Bohol.  If you want something rural and appreciate nature at its best, you go to Mindoro, Sorsogon, and Saranggani Province.  If you want thrill and excitement, Tawi – Tawi has several white islands and the risks of being kidnapped by rebel terrorists; just kidding. :)

People

One of the most fascinating characteristics of Filipinos is the warm welcome they give to foreign visitors.  They always have a ready smile wearing on their faces.  Regardless of whether you are in the slums of Tondo, or in the streets of Manila, Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro, expect that Filipinos are ready to welcome you.  What’s most important is that they can speak English whether straight, broken, or pidgin.  Thus, you won’t have problems asking for directions and getting information from them.

Food

Your idea of fun is not complete if you will not try to eat balut. It is a local food of un-hatched boiled duck eggs you will dip with vinegar and salt.  Filipinos will urge you to try this, especially those with actual duck embryos.  There are other foods you can try as well. You can find almost all kinds of dishes in the Philippines - oriental, western, Mediterranean, Arabian, Asian, and etc.

Festivals

Every month, local festivals are held in different provinces.  The month of January alone has three major festivals to celebrate: Ati-AtiHan, Dinagyang, and Sinulog.  Each festival has different themes. Obando Festival is for barren women; Bantayan Lechon Festival is for roasted pig; and Lanzones Festival is for the lanzones fruit as examples.  You might as well request from the website of Department of Tourism - Philippines to provide you with calendar of festivals so that you can plan your itinerary.

Natural and Man Made Spots

The Philippines is proud that there are two landmarks which made it in the wonders of the world list.  Banaue Rice Terraces is known to be the 8th Man Made Wonder of the World and the Underground River in Palawan made it to list of “Natural Wonders of The World.”  In addition, the Monfort Cave in Samal Island, Davao del Norte is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having the largest colony of bats in the world.  With these sites as examples, you are sure that there are lots of places to explore in this country.

Travel to the Philippines!

I'm ok Joe. Some areas were affected but not where I'm current at (Metro Manila). Thanks for the concern.
