Too Cold? Savor These Spicy Kosher Recipes!

by Ben Goodman ***

We delight in kosher recipes and kosher riverboat cruises, especially during the cold months. However, when it becomes too chilly for your taste, you can warm up with these nice and spicy recipes!

The Jewish Kitchen presents Kosher Beef Chili

When it comes to spicy food, you can’t go wrong with chili. This is the quintessential spicy food, a key component in a lot of hot and flavorsome meals. Beef chili is a staple food in a lot of food festivities, and with the right kind of preparation, it can be made kosher easily. Because it uses beef, it shouldn’t be paired with milk, so chugging a dairy drink to remove the spiciness is no longer an option. With that said, you can pair this kosher beef chili recipe with a lot of other things, such as nice, soft bread or taco shells.

Spunky Spicy Stir-Fried Ramen by Eileen Goltz (via OU Kosher)

Ramen is a Japanese noodle meal, one that uses wheat noodles and various ingredients to build a nice, warm and hearty dish. Usually, it is served as a soup, but other variants exist. Whenever we go on kosher touring adventures, we make sure to sample vegan versions of local delicacies, and ramen is no exception. With the popularity of Japanese-style cuisine around the world, vegan ramen isn’t hard to find, but sometimes, you have a craving for a particular kind of ramen meal. This spicy stir-fried ramen satisfies a craving for hot noodle food, a meal to excite the tongue and give your taste buds a ride.

Cecilia Hae-Jin Lee presents Traditional Napa Cabbage Kimchi (via Epicurious)

This recipe is an excerpt from a book called Eating Korean, and with the popularity of Korean culture around the world these days, it would make sense for a recipe like this to gain such traction online. Kimchi is a spicy Korean dish made of cabbages, fermented with garlic and other ingredients until it is utterly spicy and flavorful. Kimchi is eaten during the winter, its hotness combating the cold. Gimjang is the term used to describe the painstaking method of preparing kimchi during the winter time, which is fitting because it’s starting to get cold nowadays.
