To the US McDonald’s is bringing a British hit

 In the United Kingdom McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac was a huge hit and  now it’s crossing the pond. Chicago-based McDonald’s plans to test a chicken Big Mac for a limited time at Miami-area locations later this month, first reported by the Washington Post. 

However it replaces the two burgers with two tempura chicken patties, the Chicken Big Mac is similar to its meaty sibling. Of course, it also includes pickles, shredded lettuce, the signature Big Mac sauce and a slice of American cheese. The company said a combination was a huge success when it was rolled out to the customers in the U.K. 

Since Popeyes introduced its popular chicken sandwich in 2019 the Chicken Big Mac comes amid a fast food feud that has been dubbed the “Chicken Sandwich Wars,” which have intensified. With McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s introducing new sandwiches meant to compete with Popeyes and Chick-fil-A, other chains have followed the trend.

The Chicken Big Mac is tested by McDonald’s in Miami. Earlier this year in the UK, McDonald’s briefly sold the limited-time offering. After it made its debut the Chicken Big Mac was so popular that it sold out in about 10 days. Moreover, the chain said that it was its most popular launch ever in the UK and Ireland.

In the UK McDonald’s has already tested its chicken Big Mac where it was available until March 15 according to the company’s U.S. site. In a statement, McDonald’s said that it is always looking to give our fans more ways to enjoy the classic menu items they know and love. 

Made with two crispy tempura chicken patties, sauce, pickles, shredded lettuce and American cheese on a sesame seed bun this sandwich brings some of our fans’ favorite flavors together for the perfect bite.  

Outside the Sunshine state McDonald’s also hints that the new sandwich may eventually be available. In its email McDonald’s said “we’ll use this time to gather feedback from both customers and restaurant crew, while nor everything we test makes it on our U.S. menus, as we usually consider various opportunities to offer more delicious options in the future”.  

Among fast food eaters Chicken is cheaper than beef and is a favorite among various people. According to the McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski, Poultry is also a “priority area” for the company. In a recent earnings call McDonald’s told their CEO Chris Kempczinski that chicken “continues to be a significant opportunity for us” and remains a priority for the company. 

At select Miami locations the new sandwich will be rolled out later this month for a limited time. We have got some great global equities already in our McNuggets and McChicken but we also have some equities in McCrispy and McSpicy that we think we have got an opportunity to do more all around the world.  

If the chicken Big Mac will be available nationwide McDonald’s didn’t say but hinted the test run in Florida could springboard it to a menu near you. In July, McDonald’s said that sales at its US restaurants jumped 3.7% in the second quarter in at least 13 months, with the increase driven by higher menu prices and its regular menus as well as “value offerings” through its app.
