Tips To Improve the Fertility Rate in Men
by My Fertility Forums Health and Social WorkToday,
we shall be discussing on male fertility and various ways to improve the
situation. While infertility issues are mostly considered related to females,
there are situations where males can also be held responsible. Here are some
essential tips on improving male fertility:
Addition of antioxidants in the diet
Antioxidants
play a critical role in fighting heart disease and cancer. Similarly,
antioxidants also help in increasing male fertility. The evidence is shown in
the fertility forum
clearly suggests the fact that men taking antioxidants as supplements on a
regular basis have experienced minimal DNA damaged sperm cells compared to
those who are not taking the same. There is also evidence that proves the fact
that couples increase the chance of conceiving if the male counterpart includes
an extra amount of antioxidants into the diet.
Some
of the antioxidants that helps in improving sperm health are zinc (meat,
poultry, beans, red meat, crab, and oysters), selenium (beef, turkey, chicken,
tuna, brazil nuts, and cod), vitamin C (orange, grapefruit, kiwi, and red
pepper), folic acid (leafy green vegetables, beans, peas, fruits, fortified
grains, and beef liver), and lycopene (pink grapefruit, watermelon, apricots,
and tomatoes). However, consuming these items in moderation is recommended.
Also, consuming Brazil nuts on regular basis may not be good for health. It is
always better to consult a physician and nutritionist before including them in
the diet.
Too much soy intake can cause damage to
the sperm count
Soy
intake is not bad but consuming it in high quantity can be fatal and may lead
to infertility issues. Many members of My fertility forum have
accepted the fact the consuming too much soy based foods results in decreasing
the sperm count. Soy, on the other hand, has proved to be highly beneficial in
preventing the chances of prostate cancer. If you are overweight, avoiding soy
in high quantity is recommended.
Stay away from tobacco intake
Quit
your smoking habits. You must stay away from tobacco to improve your fertility.
Those who are strong smokers do face issues like decreased sperm motility,
decreased sperm counts, and inappropriate sperm shape. If you are undergoing
some kind of fertility treatments, it is better to avoid smoking. If you are
undergoing IVF treatment, smoking can have a negative impact on the success of
the treatment. Therefore, stay away from smoking. Also, smoking challenges the
fertility of the female partner. Women who are exposed to some kind of
second-hand smoke witnesses lower IVF success rates and also stands a higher
chance of loss in pregnancy.
Avoid intake of alcohol in a heavy
volume
Too much alcohol can cause a negative impact on the fertility rate. Moderate drinking, like once or twice in a week, one or two pegs, is normal. That’s not going to do any harm. However, frequent drinkers will definitely face the problem. High alcohol intake results in dropping the sperm count in men and worsening the sperm motility rate. The shape of the sperm also decreases.
