Tips in Cooking to Help With Weight Loss
by Margie B. Fine Art PhotographerAdding spices to your food is the trick!!
And here are the reasons to spice it up when cooking your next meal:
- Spices make your food more interesting. Just by adding oregano, pepper and garlic, as an example, you can fool your brain, as well as your taste buds into thinking they are experiencing a higher-calorie treat.
- Spices can reduce your appetite. It is a well known scientific fact that garlic and spicy chilies leave you more satisfied and will question the reach for a second helping.
- Spices can increase your metabolic rate. Capsaicin, in chilies, and capsiate, in paprika and red peppers, are known to increase your metabolism by as much as 10% for short periods of time.
There are also four foods to fight belly body fat:
- dark chocolate with 78% cocoa
- avocados
- free-range chicken
- cinnammon
With just these foods listed, several recipes come to mind! The recipes ideas are endless, so I will end this with one main course meal for your weight-loss liking.
Roasted Red Pepper Chicken
Ingredients
- 4 skinless, free-range boneless chicken breasts
- 1 (12 ounce) jar roasted red bell peppers
- 2 cups bread crumbs
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup plain nonfat yogurt
- 1/2 cup feta cheese
Directions
- With a very sharp knife, cut pockets into the thickest part of the breast of chicken. Stuff as many pieces of roasted red peppers as you can into pockets of chicken one at a time. Pour bread crumbs into a large plastic bag. Place chicken breasts in the bag with the bread crumbs and shake until well coated.
- In a large skillet, heat oil to a medium-high heat and place chicken in the pan. Cook for 5 minutes on one side then turn, cook for 10 minutes on the other side.
- While cooking the chicken, in an electric blender blend nonfat yogurt and a few pieces of red peppers. Flip the chicken one more time and cook 5 more minutes, or until chicken is done.
- Cut the chicken in half and arrange the pieces on a plate. Drizzle with yogurt mixture and sprinkle with feta cheese.
