Tips for Hosting the Perfect Jewelry Party

by Susan Butler Teacher

Hosting a home jewelry design party can certainly make for an enjoyable evening. You can build it as a theme for the party or work the party around jewelry making, which is certain to be a highlight of the event. If you're interested in hosting such an event, the following tips can help you to make it a success.

Counting the Cost - In most instances, you will want to defray the costs, unless you are planning on paying for them completely as the host of the party. It is important to let people know in advance how much they will be charged and you can even collect the money in advance, to make sure that there are not any awkward moments during their visit. Consider the cost of the supplies as well as your time if you are interested in making a profit.

Hire a Professional - For a truly memorable evening, you can hire a jewelry design service which will come to your home or the location where you are holding the event. Having a professional available makes it a much more enjoyable time for everyone, including the host (you). After all, you will be able to enjoy time with those that are attending the party and you can even take part in the design process as well.

Consider Your Neighbors - It is important that you don’t annoy your neighbors, who could complain and cause problems during your special evening. Consider the noise level of your event, including the music that you are playing. You should also be cognizant of where your guests are parking. If you really want to avoid irritating your neighbors, simply invite them to the party as well.

Have a Dry Run - If this is the first time you are hosting a jewelry design party, it is a good idea for you to have a practice run to make sure that you have everything in order. Invite a few of your closest friends and family members to attend this small event. Make sure that you include everything that will be included in the party, such as snacks and drinks. It can let you see if there are any issues that need to be addressed before the party occurs and can make you more comfortable with the process.

Offering Your Own Jewelry for Sale - In some instances, it may be possible for you to sell your own customized jewelry at a jewelry design event. Although it certainly is possible to do so, there may be some reasons why you would want to separate the sale of your jewelry and the design of jewelry. One of the reasons why you would want to separate it is because you are teaching people exactly how easy it is to design their own jewelry. You would not want to reduce the possibility of a sale because the attendees will feel as if they can simply make their own.

Keep Things Basic - Although you may be equipped to design jewelry of your own using advanced techniques, you should try to limit the design options at the party to basic techniques. This will help those who have a limited amount of experience. It will also help to keep things light so that the entire evening can be enjoyed by everyone who was in attendance.

By following these basic tips, you are sure to have a jewelry party that provides a memorable evening. As you become more comfortable with throwing this type of party, you will find that you are also developing your own techniques which will add to the event.
