Tips For A Successful Community-Built Playground

by Austin Stanfel Building a Foundation for the Future
Building a playground is a tasking work, and it requires proper organization and preparation. Community built playground is inevitable in a neighborhood where the residents are not satisfied with the playground or park in their community, or in cases where there are no exiting playgrounds for children in the community. In these cases, it is essential that the residents in this community come together and build a playground for their kids. And to build a successful playground that is safe and fun for kids, some things have to be in place, as the construction can be delayed if some mistakes are made. This is why I  have put together in this article some tips to help the development of a community built playground and make it a success.

Getting a Suitable Location

For starting communities, the first stage is determining a safe location for children. In constructing a playground for kids, the first priority is safety. This is why proper precautions must be put to place while selecting a location for the playground. Also, it should be ensured that a CPSI installer that is certified is present on site to manage and supervise the process.

Prepare the Place Ahead

Before the installation day arrives, the site should be prepared, all stones, asphalt, debris, and dangerous objects should be removed. The site should also be appropriately leveled. Also, a surfacing area should be prepared, an area that is close to the delivery truck to enable easy unloading of the Playground equipment

Check Everything Properly

Make sure to inventory all the equipment they are offloading from the truck. Ensure that all delivered boxes are equal to all ordered boxes before any of the boxes are opened or used. If it is noticed that any of the boxes or equipment was not delivered or it is damaged do not sign a freight bill.

Organization of All Unloaded Equipment

After you have inventoried all the delivered items, it is time to start unwrapping the boxes and organizing the pieces of equipment carefully. In case of any confusion direct all questions to the vendor, to prevent the wrong handling of the parts. The pieces should be appropriately arranged in a way that members responsible for constructing a specific component of the playground will find all they need as fast as possible. This will make construction fast and easy.

Start Building

To start building, the first thing is to organize your team and get all the volunteers registered. After this, all volunteers should be introduced to their supervisors. How successful or not the construction will be is dependent on the level of cooperation and teamwork among volunteers. The building day is always very long and tiring, so it is essential to treat volunteers well and ensure there is time to take a break, if possible cheer them up with music playing, get them snacks, etc. Ensure that there is first aid treatment in case of accidents, and proper electrical service should be in the construction site. To start construction, the first thing is installing a post in the middle of the site, and then every other thing can follow.
