Things you Must Know about IELTS Writing Part-1

by Seek Academy Training Institute

The IELTS writing task is a bit difficult to attempt for the candidates as it requires analytical skills, logical arguments, counterarguments, and spellbound conclusions. In the IELTS Writing Task part 1, the aspirant has to write an essay in which the formation of the sentences should be concise along with the appropriate word usage. Thus, vocabulary plays a significant role in IELTS writing task 1.

If you are likely to attempt the IELTS exam this year, then you must prepare for the writing task 1 with utmost dedication and practice test papers. The IELTS test takers analyze the skills and proficiency of the candidates by following a certain criterion, which is mentioned below:

·      Achievement of Task and Response of the Candidate – The test takers first of all examine the requirement of the test or specific question like whether the word the count is appropriate, the question is answered correctly or not and so on. Basically, the accuracy of the task is analyzed by the IELTS examiners in this step while focusing on the response of the candidate.

·     Coherence and Cohesion – Basically, coherence and cohesion are the logical structure of any write-up. With Coherence and Cohesion, the test takers of IELTS candidates can easily determine the connection and progression of the essay. For Example – whether the candidate has used phrases or linking words in the essay or not because ultimately these are essential to build a connection between different paragraphs.

·     Lexical Resources – In this criterion, the IELTS test taker will analyze your vocabulary and language precision.

·     Grammar Range and Accuracy – Well, it is quite clear and understood that in this step, the examiner examines the grammar accuracy in the essay.

Now, the IELTS writing exam is of two different types i.e. 1. General 2. Academic. Those students who wish to apply for an undergraduate or postgraduate level in any foreign university is required to take the IELTS Academic writing exam. And, those individuals who wish to migrate to any foreign city or willing to enroll in any vocational course, then they have to apply for the IELTS General writing exam.

Furthermore, the IELTS Academic writing exam is held for 60 minutes in which the test takers have to attempt two tasks – Task 1 and Task 2.

TASK 1

In task 1, the IELTS candidates are required to provide essential information from the visual information. The test takers are given 20 minutes to attempt the entire task 1 of at least 150 words. Hence, it becomes quite significant to provide well-summarized and precise information while not forgetting about the formal writing style.

TASK 2

In Task 2, the IELTS aspirants are required to provide a supportive answer of at least 250 words. With this Task 2, the examiners will assess the proficiency and skills of the candidates to form a logical, meaningful essay. Basically, the candidates have to discuss an argument, but in clear, concise and structural order. Moreover, there are only 40 minutes to complete the entire task 2, which means it weighs more than task 1. So, attempt it wisely!
