Things To Know When Buying Laminate Flooring

by Ryan Davis Writer

The world of laminate flooring is still a mystery to many buyers. This leads them to take uninformed decision, which they eventually regret. In this article, I have given some essential information that you must have before buying laminate flooring.

The installation process:

Before getting to know the “how” of installation process, I am going to guide you through the “where” of laminate installation.

Prior to installation, always check the moisture level of installation areas. If the moisture level is high, as a rule, you should resiste from laminating there. Other than this exception, you can laminate your flooring practically anywhere.

The installation process itself is quite straightforward, though some variations surely do exist. Usually, the flooring pieces come in standardized blocks, which make them make to effectively stick together without any efforts. In other variations, some flooring adhesive is required for the blocks to hold together. The benefit of this variation is that it is highly customizable.

Matching the laminate with your needs:

Other than aesthetic and price considerations, you must select your laminate flooring on the basis of expected movement or traffic on your floor. This is a relatively easy task as laminate floorings are divided into various Abrasion Class (AC). AC range from AC1 to AC5, with each ascending level being capable of handling higher traffic and load. So, for instance, if you want the flooring for residential purposes then you should go for AC1, but if you want it for commercial purposes then you should go with something between AC3 and AC5 as per specific needs.

Selecting the style:

Before selecting the color, you must make sure that it is matching your already existing furniture. One thing to keep in mind  while selecting the color is that it will look a few shade darker after the installation is over. Other than color, you also must decide whether you want your flooring to have grains or not. This, of course, depends on your personal preference. However, you can always ask suggestions from your laminate floor suppliers or interior designers.

Life cycle of your laminate flooring:

Like every other thing in this universe, the lifespan of your laminate flooring is finite. The range of this life cycle varies with the quality. Laminate floor suppliers are usually aware about the overall lifespan of the flooring material and as a rule, they offer higher warranty on more durable materials. So if you want a long lasting flooring, then you should go for the one with higher warranty.
