Go online and research the different types of braces. Learn about the advantages and disadvantages of each of the types of braces. Speak to your friends and get feedback on the types of braces that they have worn or are wearing.

Image and video research:

Do an online image and video search on the braces and see which type would be useful for you from a cosmetic and functional point of view.

Meet an orthodontist:

Discuss with an orthodontist. They are the braces experts and its better to ask the orthodontist about all your queries before you start. Not all orthodontists are specialists in invisible braces, so you may want to check if your orthodontist has expertise in clear aligners

Take Study Models:

The dentist would take measurements of your teeth before braces and pour a plaster cast to study and record your dental status. This measurement is done using alginate impression material.

Take Radiographs:

The dentist would take intraoral, panoramic and lateral ceph radiographs. This is used to analyze the dental status, health of the bone, etc.

Preparatory work:

In the case of existing issues with the teeth or gums like cavities or gum problems, they are corrected before starting braces by doing the relevant treatment like fillings, root canals, crowns, etc

Dental Scaling:

Although part of preparatory work, it is important to do scaling and polishing of the teeth before fixing braces for before taking final measurements for invisible braces

Final measurements for invisible braces:

For invisible braces fabrication, final measurements are taken with silicone impression material or by using an intraoral scanner.
