Things That Make A Good Coffee Shop
by Qarah Ict Qarah ICTHanging out in coffee shops is one of the favorite
activities of many people. Drinking coffee in the several shops that litter
every major city in the world has gone far beyond the drink itself. It has
become a social ritual wherein people converse, bond, or share things. Some of
the greatest modern intellectuals have exchanged ideas inside coffee shops,
many couples have exchanged their vows of love in one, and many lifetime
friends have met each other within the confines of this remarkable place known
as a coffee shop.
Coffee is the fuel that runs the world nowadays, and cafes
in Samui offer great ones. Independent coffee shops are best; they resonate
with the character and its owner's interpretation of what a good cup of coffee
should taste like.
Below are the top things I think to create a coffee shop's
character and make it what it is.
Music
Music can significantly enhance or destroy the vibe of a
cafe. To some people, music can impact anything—their mood, their energy, and,
well, your coffee shop. Most people feel like a coffee shop should be
consistent in the type of music it plays to its customers. If it plays calming
acoustic music one day but dance music the next, customers may not know what to
expect. While variety can be great, attracting a consistent customer base might
not work out well if a shop's music is too diverse. A perfect example of not
being consistent is when one of my favorite coffee shops
played electronic music consistently and then blared vulgar rap music one day.
I had to leave so I could get my work done.
Staff
A friendly staff is super important. They know their
customers' names, what they drink, and all about them. Their typical shop is
about 50% related to knowing the staff and feeling comfortable.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere of a shop is everything. It's created by the
people in it, the shop's design, the music, and the wall art. All of these
things work together to create energy and a vibe. Most people like consistency.
Also, they want a combination of coziness with an eclectic feel. Paintings,
pictures, and displays of collectibles are some of my favorites. Also, here's
an important one, temperature. One of the most popular coffee chains seems to
want to freeze their customers by jacking up the air conditioner. That's a
great way to ruin everything.
The Coffee Itself
One of the essential factors in having a "good"
coffee shop is the actual coffee and products offered. Are there just three
items offered? Is the coffee genuinely good? Is it too weak? Does it have a
sour aftertaste? Is there coffee consistent with every order?
Our hybrid Café in Samui offers a unique combination of a
coffee shop during the day and a nice chill bar at night, unlike any other on
the island. We provide our customers with an at-home, relaxed environment that
is seamlessly curated to provide you with a space that allows you to enjoy
friends, family, and delicious treats!
