Things Are Changing Online.....

by Jean DAndrea Retired
Remember a few years ago on Apsense?     You could write a short article, and get many responses and a decent discussion going.

These days, comments are usually short, if you get any, and sometimes are nothing to do with the article at all, they are just ads for other businesses.

To be honest, I have to admit that I'm not writing as much as I used to these days, although whether it's lack of motivation, or just because there is a real lack of results now.

When advertising my programs, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get sales, or even enquiries from the promotions, emails, etc., that I do.

Are you getting the same results, or lack thereof?    What do you do about it?   Is there a cure for this?

Currently I'm using a couple of the better safelists, surfing, and I've got a website, but even the Google ads aren't clicked on as much as they used to be!

Perhaps it is all linked to the global economic downturn currently in progress - who knows?    I do know that I'd really like to get some decent sales and results again!

Thoughtful article. But I can't stop there. I really must add some more to that comment :) Thanks for these observations. Since my time at APSense is now approaching 12 months I can not go back to compare with years ago. I too have a sense of frustration at the short comments that add nothing to an article. With some new changes foreshadowed in other articles and status posts hopefully there will be some things that address the decline that you see.

Hello Jean, been a longtime since you wrote an article here, yea l do recall them good old times when we would get articles written that had over a hundred, well written comments....Neville, APSense originally was about writing articles and promoting and getting members to read and post a comment it was a big thing back then....Less ads, less affiliated programs being marketing....So yea Jean you would have an opportunity to have more clicks on your promotion and yes we made more back then......but times have changed....currently l am doing most of the things l did back then. Only l apply more techniques into my marketing skills.

What l mean by that is l concentrate on what l have written and market it effectively to people who have a desire for this specific product....Niche marketing is key element with effect key words and key phrases ...

Thanks for share good article....l will show you what l mean....watch your hit count....

Nice writing and reminder....

I have to agree with you Jean. Article's these days lack the sustenance that we yearn for. Online marketing has become impersonal and because of that we see the lack of dedication and knowledge.

What i think is happening is that too much information is out there!
People dig in with the few things they have been pushing..
And now it is like dog whistles that attract a select few.
Meaning that certain people will just tune out no matter what is said.
I think now you just got to have a WOW presentation
with a sense of sincerity behind it. Also some people may want to
believe in you but have been burnt so many times in the past...

Hello Jean, love your article and I do agree with the previous comments about the things taking place over the internet now-a-days. Personally I feel that the changing of world events has a lot to do with the way people are responding to things that they either read or see going on in the world today and it's causing a somewhat negative effect on how they choose to react or respond to certain criteria from the media. The way I see it is to best try and focus on one subject or program that your promoting and pay close attention to what's going on over the internet and pretty much base your thoughts and feelings on how it personally effects you.Thank you for allowing me have some input on your subject,Tony Horton

I think it is a combination of things. Members that were active and engaged on APSense years ago have left. The quality of what is being posted here and on other sites has deteriorated drastically and there is a flood of people jumping into the internet with unreasonable expectations further deteriorating the quality of what can be found here.

Hi Everyone, Thankyou for all your comments - we have a few different viewpoints here, and I believe them all to be valid! :-) Just another indication that things have really changed online, and also here at Apsense.

Currently, I'm working on updating one of my websites to make it more relevant, and more informational, so hopefully things will improve in the New Year.

Perhaps every so often, we need to look at what we are doing, and be really honest about it. If it's not working, don't cling to something because YOU like it, think of the results, and if it's not working, dump it or change it.

Once again, thanks for all your comments - food for thought there, for sure.

Jean I would suggest going to some other sites posting your content. Apsense picks up your content in the search engines really well but there are losts of other sites out here where you can post your content that others with find value in:)
