THE TREND IS TO SAFARI

by Nicki Jenns Solo Traveler
Safaris do you want to see it! The madness of the moment is to organize a safari roots , just to rub with nature, open spaces and wild in the rough. And when we talk about safari, Tanzania comes at the top of the list with the largest wild animal presence per square kilometer worldwide. In addition to tons of other activities to do in the country , Tanzania is the ideal destination for a safari.

Actually, when we talk safari, the first image that comes to mind is the little simba at the end of the hands of the old monkey with pink butt  Rafiki . You know the image of the future king exposed on his rocky peak, facing the mass of the savannah which acclaims him. Well, this theatrical image is precisely  the conservation area of Ngorongoro in Tanzania. Pile hairy or almost like the fantasy of Disney, it is understandable that the craze for this place, straight from our childhood imagination, becomes more and more fashionable.

Did you know that all the familiar names of the movie The Lion King, such as: simba (lion), rafikiti (friend), nala (luck), sarabi (mirage) or shenzi (barbarian) are all of Swahili origin? And yes. You should know that the widespread popular expression,  Hakuna Matata , literally translates into Swahili by no problem .

Truce of wonder, in front of such a project, it is necessary to learn well if one wants to perpetuate the dream of its future safari to the reality. What time of year, which national park to choose, what type of accommodation to book, what to expect, what to bring; the list is long and not always easy to manage, especially when one tries to make the most of one's holidays at the best prices. Because we must not hide it, Tanzania Safari it is a very expensive vacation.

This majestic phenomenon concerns three species in particular. The wildebeests , the zebras and gazelles  undertaking throughout the year circular migration in search of new grazing grounds. The coexistence of these three species is justified by the complementarity of their dietary habits.

This perfect harmony allows them all to take advantage of the same pastures. Even better, the strength of their instinct is added to each other: the wildebeest and their impeccable sense of smell, the zebras and their scrupulous eyesight as well as the gazelles and their fine hearing. Together, they are perfect companions to detect and avoid predators.

Throughout the year, they are forced to travel long distances to find a sufficient amount of food. This migratory movement respects a more or less precise calendar. From February to March, the birth season takes place in southern Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Despite the precarious situation of the young, the herds are still moving constantly.

From May, the majority moves to the northwest and climbs the western corridor before heading east. From July to September, they enter the Masai-mara reserve in Kenya, before descending again to the south of Serengeti, until December. This trajectory is punctuated in part by the rainy seasons and is therefore not a precise certainty. The whole thing serves to give a general and general idea of their displacement.

The ultimate way to empty your wallet is from June to October. The price difference of tickets and packages is pretty staggering. Better to play it more logical, but it complicates a little the calendar. Staying out of school holidays naturally, but you also have to adapt the choice of your period to the style you want to give to your safari.

In general, for the north (Serengeti and Ngorongoro), we are still in the right period from June to March (and some places throughout  the year). It remains your safe bet to see all possible animals, but the budget will be accordingly. For the south (Selous and Ruaha) we can stretch the sauce from June to the end of December at the maximum, but the dry season remains the most certain. All due to the state of the roads that can ravage quickly during the rainy season
