The Most Advanced Cities in India and Why?

by Shubham Ahuja Blogger

If we are to look at the most advanced cities of the country,  Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore lead the way.  All three are capitals in their own right, the first is the political and business capital of the country, the second the financial capital and the third the IT capital. To claim the title of an advanced city, different parameters are taken into account. These include - cost of living, civic infrastructure, technological education, IT sector, social and cultural values, job opportunities and many more.

Let us see how these mega cities are advanced and why:

1. New Delhi

New Delhi, India’s capital city, also claims the title of the one of the fastest growing cities in the world.  The modern day New Delhi founded on December 15, 1911 was planned by two British architects Sir Herbert Baker and Sir Edwin Lutyens. National Geographic Traveler Magazine has stated New Delhi ‘'one of the Ultimate Cities of a Lifetime to visit and explore’.

However, that is not the reason for the city getting the title of the advanced cities. It is the infrastructure, such as the Delhi Metro, the hub of corporate offices, such as the Airtel, easily the best internet service provider in Delhi, the Parliament house, the home to Indian Government, the Supreme court, the country’s judiciary, the best Universities for education, the latest arenas for sports and the stages for culture. Add to that the old world charm of some historical monuments, it is not difficult to see why thousands abandon their homes in other towns and villages to move here and achieve professional success.

2. Mumbai, Maharashtra

When several island together became the city of Mumbai, the proximity to the sea and the balmy weather set the path for the city to become the financial capital of India. With RBI headquartered in the city as well as the country’s biggest, thriving slum Dharavi, the city is also famous for its entertainment industry, be it films, TC and theatre. Never shy to take on the technological advancements to ensure it remains the city that never sleeps, the best of products and services are always on offer to the residents of this city.

It holds the title of the fourth populous city of the world or the highest cost of living, but that does not deter people for making this city their home. The professionalism and the financial growth the city accords could be why this most advanced city of the country generates about 5 percent of India’s total GDP.  Hardly surprising, that the Alpha World City of Mumbai is not only an advanced city but also the richest city in India.

3. Bangalore, Karnataka

Bangalore was a sleepy hill town that the IT industry discovered. Since it was a town for retired celebrities and little growth, this advancement of the city is a direct connect to the people and companies who came from across the world to set up roots and achieve success. Bangalore is The Modern Face of India, the city boasts of a good infrastructure, the best of educational institutes, transportation and much more. Bangalore has headquarters of technological giants like Wipro, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Infosys and ISRO.

For a city on the path of becoming a smart city and is dependent on IT for its growth, the introduction of v-fiber technology is a given. On transferring internet via copper cables at speeds of up to 100 Mbps for high speed broadband connectivity, the residents and the professionals of the city know that the city will advance with them.
