The Mistakes Not to Make for Your Dealership

by Kevin Smith Author

Buying a new car or truck is a huge, emotional purchase. It's a lot of money and somewhere you'll most likely spend a lot of time in to get you from Point A to Point B. So, when a customer arrives at a dealership, they want to be able to trust the dealership and know that they'll get the best deal and the vehicle that they've hoped for. As one of the Chevy truck dealers in Floresville, TX, you'll want to make sure that you use the negative customer experiences that you hear about and make your dealership the best it can be. Here are some things to make sure your dealership doesn't do to help set your dealership apart.

Lack of Security

Some dealerships have different levels of security than others. When there is low security, they'll allow potential customers to come in and ask to test drive a vehicle and not even ask them for their ID. They may let the customer drive the vehicle without supervision, as well. While this makes the process much easier than going through entering your information in the system, red flags are raised because they don't vet that people driving these cars for sale or how people will drive it or take care of it on test drives. Be sure you find a system that works for your dealership, but it should include getting a driver's license at the very least.

Low Quality Vehicles

While some dealerships do sell vehicles that are lower quality, it's important to be honest about them. There was one scenario where customers arrived at a dealership and test drove a vehicle for sale and it started to break down on them on the test drive. When they arrived back to the dealership to inquire about it, the dealership was aware there was something wrong but didn't tell the potential customers ahead of time. That is a potential way for people to lose trust and credibility in a dealership.

The Right Amount of Communication

We have all heard of the dealerships that if you give your personal information to them, you'll be contacted nonstop and in every communication technique possible--phone, text, email, direct mail, etc. And then there are other dealerships that won't ever reach out to people after they visit their dealership. As one of the Chevy truck dealers in Floresville, TX, find a communication pattern that works well for your dealership and customers. It may take some trial and error but will be worth it when you communicate with your customers just the right amount.
