The Main Types of Website Designs

by John Mcclane Professional SEO Expert

When a website is successfully designed visitors are more likely to linger. It is easy for them to locate information or images they are looking, the information is high quality and engaging, it is visually appealing and functions smoothly, quickly and is easy to access. Website design in Brick or where you are should also keep the main search engines happy so that it appears in top rankings when relevant searches are made. Proper design is not easy balancing the requirements of the search engines and people, as they both have completely different expectations.

There are basically three types of website design, e-commerce sites, dynamic sites, and static sites. Whichever company you choose to do your website design in Toms River you both need to decide which type of site will best suit your needs. Each can use different platforms to build on. Here is a look at the three types.

E-commerce sites - If you have a business involved in selling something and you want a site your customers can visit to make purchases online, then you need an e-commerce site. There are all the things you need, payment options, carts, and so on. There are several good platforms to use including Magneto, OpenCart, OsCommerce, and Volusion.

If you are not getting a website designer to create your site for you, but are tackling it yourself these are all easy to use. Magneto is open source and free with extensions you can pay for, OsCommerce is a popular option but that does mean yours will not be unique. OpenCart is also free and Volusion has a small price but it is a hosted service, so there is a risk there.

Static sites - When you do not need the information to update because there are frequent chances to happen, a static site is the best option. This is the kind of site most people need who just want a few pages up. These are easy to create and search engines easily index them. Should you opt for website design in Toms River for a static site they have to be manually updated and that is a hard and long job.

Dynamic sites - Something that is dynamic has content that changes automatically either from server-side scripting or client-side scripting or a mix of the two.  Website design in Brick or Google Ads Brick for dynamic platforms include the likes of Joomla, WordPress, and Drupal. These are not easy to build and need technical knowledge and experience, and search engines do not index them easily.

Drupal is open source and free and a popular option. Joomla is commonly used among business owners and is easy to use. WordPress though is likely the most common and the easiest to use. It is free and then you buy plugins. It is easier to edit the content on the site without being a developer too.

Summary - The type of site you opt for depends on what you need it for. If you do not need to do anything to the site, a static will do. If you are a shop selling products you need an e-commerce site. If you need to update often, you need a dynamic site.
