The LaLiT Art Festival: Reviving the Forgotten Indian Tradition And Culture

Indian culture is known for its vibrancy and exquisiteness all over the world. The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group has always strived to bring the best of Indian culture through various celebratory activities. Being one of the founding principles of the hospitality chain, the celebration of Indian culture, festivals, and values have always been imperative. This year, on the occasion of Janamashtami, exemplary celebrations took place at The LaLiT New Delhi. The fiesta amalgamated the ostentatiousness of the Indian style and the cultural prominence of the religious festivities. 

The celebrations were held at The LaLiT New Delhi on August 16, 2019. The well-lit arena marked the beginning of Lord Krishna’s birthday at the hotel.  Similar to the group’s renowned Shiv Vivaha tradition, Janamashtami celebrations was worth attending. Curated by artist, Mr Naresh Kapuria and Odissi dancer, Sharon Lowen, the event progressed with the recitation of “Seasons of Krishna” by the popular bhajan singer, Vidhi Sharma. Moreover, Kathak Shivani Varma who is a disciple of PadmaShree Shovana Narayan made a mark with her Kathak performance. The audience also felt astounded with the Odissi dance performance by Nitisha Nanda, disciple of Sharon Lowen who is a prominent Odissi dancer. The event was inspired by the Janamashtami celebrations of Mathura.  

Be it Shiv Vivaha celebrations or Janamashtami celebrations, the Lalit Hospitality Group always look forward to celebrating Indian culture on a grand scale to enthral its patrons. 

Dr. Jyotsna Suri, CMD, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group expressed her joy on hosting the grand Janamashtami fiesta. She said, “The Indian culture is colourful, eminent, and formidable. The LaLiT Arts Festival is a great initiative which helps us understand our culture better. This year, we have witnessed the beauty of classical Indian dance forms, namely Kathak and Odissi which was enhanced by music. It was really amazing to see that this event received great love and support like our past events.”
