The Essentials of Skin Care

by Skin Health skincare

If you think that skin care is about using a moisturizer and wearing sunblock and that’s it, you might be surprised to know there’s considerably more to it than that. The sunblock/moisturizer is sort of as basic and fundamental. If you do nothing else, at least do that.

But skin care products are much more capable than that. There are products which will address almost every sort of skin situation out there. If the idea of surgery is not for you (perhaps even if it is), you still have to look after your skin.

Aging

Avoiding the comments like this and taxes; face up to it, aging will happen. At least if you’re lucky. That doesn’t mean that its effects have to be writ large on your face for all to see. By all means, wear your heart on your sleeve, but you’re allowed to keep some things to yourself.

Research

The truth is not all products are created equally. It makes sense to look at what the products you use are made of and where they come from. You wouldn’t eat something where you didn’t have an idea of its provenance; why would you use it externally. Incidentally, the skin is the largest single organ in the body - you look after your heart, don’t you?

Doing some research is essential in your foray into the world of skin care. For example, what’s the difference between a cream and a serum? Perhaps the first thing to look at it is the list of ingredients. Failing that, you could look at the company’s philosophy. If that resonates, you can continue.

Should skin care be organic?

It is not the products themselves which will be classified as organic, but the products that are in them. A maker who sources organic ingredients and then is open and direct about how they produce them is going to feel better than a bunch of chemicals with names you can’t pronounce.

Good luck it is a jungle out there – and the ingredients might be a part of it

Oh, by the way, a serum doesn’t have an ingredient which prevents moisture from evaporating. This is usually called an occlusive and is airtight which is why you would use a cream during the day. With a serum though has little spare fluid and so all you get are the active ingredients in a concentrated form.
