The Divine Chennai: Spiritual Centre of South

Formerly known as Madras, the city of Chennai is not only famous for the automobile industry but also known for its hidden depths of spirituality. Being a Gate-Way to Southern India, Chennai has its own charm and is renowned for hospitality. One can surely feel this while staying in any budget hotels near Chennai airport or in any five-star hotels across the city. Natural Beauty: Being the Second Largest Beach in the world, Marina Beach offers unparallel charm to the visitors. People who wish to enjoy tranquillity can explore the same on this beautiful beach especially during the sunrise hours. Also, one can enjoy this beach during the evening times, and this destination seems to the right one for the budget travellers. Local people come here in large numbers during the summer times to feel the cool breeze. One can also see Sand Structure of famous World Leaders here, which are created by exceptional artists.

Vivekananda House: Located at Ice House on the Marina Beach road, this House of Swamy Vivekananda has the distinction for symbolizing Swamy Vivekananda while he was making his trip to America. Meditation classes are conducted both morning and evening, and visitors are allowed to enter here in the prescribed times. The House has a wonderful structure like the English Seaside pavilion.

Rangoli: This famous art is well practices in most of the southern parts of Chennai. It can be witnessed widely in Mylapore, Triplicane, where famous temples are located. Rangoli lovers can have a feast to their eyes during the months between December and January which is called as Margazhi month in Tamil calendar. Even the famous hotels in Chennai display this art during the festival times.

Big Banyan Tree: Tourists should not miss seeing the famous banyan tree at the Theosophical Society located at the bank of Adyar River. Built by the occultist Helena Blavatsky a Russian, who became obsessed with the spiritualism of the east on a trip to India in the 1870s. The concept of Universal brotherhood is preached here, and the place has an extensive library in it.

Santhome Church: Being one of the oldest Churches in India, this holy place is located in Santhome, adjacent to Marina Beach. People who have faith in Christianity, should not miss visiting this Holy place in Chennai. Built during the British period, the Church is well known for its architecture besides its power of holiness.

First-time visitors may not be able to recognize the obvious fact that Chennai is the right destination for meditation. After getting familiar with the city any tourist can able to discover that this is the city, which is well known for innumerable spiritual activities in all parts of the year. In fact, Chennai attracts several NRIs and other foreigners for the Traditional Music Festival conducted in every December.
