The Chairman Finance Bank Zambia Did Not Claim Any Money From BoZ

by Suzzane Miller Content Wriiter

There has been a false accusation against Rajan Mahtani, the chairman Finance Bank Zambia, with regards to money laundering. Two tabloids published news in the month of November 2013 that Rajan Mahtani has demanded money of about K120 million from the Bank of Zambia as compensation. This is a false news that had been published by the news outlets. Dr. Mahtani never claimed any money, be it K120 million, from the Central Bank of Zambia.

Dr. Mahtani is a respected person in Zambia. He is a great businessman and a philanthropist who always thinks for the betterment of the nation and its people. During the Rupiah-Banda government when the Bank was under the possession, his contributions were immense. His financial plans and strategies had made the Finance Bank of Zambia restore its lost glory. It is almost two years now that the Bank has been given to the rightful owners and the shareholders and Finance Bank Zambia is doing quite well in the banking sector. Why should Mahtani now demand money from BoZ as compensation for its wrongdoings?

The Zambian Intelligence News (ZIN) discovered that the chairman Finance Bank Zambia was not involved in any money laundering case. This is a scheme, which is implanted by some people to tarnish the image of the great man in Zambia. It has been found that the two tabloids, Daily Nation and Zambia Reports that published the news against Dr. Mahtani on November 6 2013, were actually involved in damaging Rajan Mahtani’s image. The two hired editors of the news outlets were actually paid high for doing all these illegal activities.

No matter whatever attempt these people take in order to damage the reputation of Dr. Rajan Mahtani, it is very difficult for them to do so. He is a very popular and influential man in Zambia and people are very much fond of him because of his social and charitable activities. Recently, Professional Insurance Corporation Zambia (popular as PICZ), which belongs to Mahtani Group of Companies, donated an ICT (modern computer science) lab to the Rasunga University, Monze.  The cost of the lab is K212 000. So, it is quite evident from here how much he thinks for the betterment of the country, its people and for its development.

It’s apparent that the perpetrators are using the techniques of vendetta, blackmail and cheap media. The masterminds are already known and very soon actions will be taken against them by the concerned authorities.
