by Kritika Agarwal Satisfy our customers
Textile materials are flexible and consist of a network of artificial or natural fibers, yarns, or thread. Such fibers are formed by spinning any kind of raw fibers like wool, hemp, cotton, flax, or anything else to form long strands with them. Textiles can be produced by knotting, knitting, weaving, felting, crocheting, or braiding.

Textile and fabric:
The fabric is a commonly related word with textile which is often used in the business of textile assemblies like dressmaking or tailoring. But there is a very thin difference between textile and fabric. Textiles can be any type of materials which is made up of interlacing fibers like geotextiles or carpeting. On the other hand, fabrics materials are prepared through knitting, weaving, bonding, crocheting, or spreading and can be used in the manufacturing of garments and other goods.

Sources and types:
Textiles have four main sources including plant, animal, mineral, and synthetic. Except for synthetic, all the other sources are natural.
• Animal textiles are commonly made from silk, skin, fur, or hair
• Plant textiles are prepared with cotton, flush, jute
• Mineral textiles have sources in asbestos and glass fiber
• Synthetic textiles are made up of acrylic, polyester, or nylon
Textiles are manufactured with some special characteristics like specific degrees of durability or variable strengths.

Production method:
As previously mentioned, textiles can be produced in various manner, which includes –
Weaving – This kind of production method involves interlocking of a set of warps with a set of wefts. Warps are longer threads and wefts are crossing threads. Weaving is done through machine types called loom. Though weaving can be done by hands but for huge production machines are used.
Crocheting, looping, and knitting - All these involve interlocking loops of yarn. These can be done using a needle, crochet hook, or knitting needle, or with all of them together in a row. Though knitting can be done using machines crocheting can only be executed by hand.
• Spread tow – In this method, yarns are first spread into some tinny tapes. Then those are knitted as warp and weft.
• Braiding – This technique uses twisting of threads to make cloth.
• Knotting – It involves tying of all threads together to make macramé.
