Like all German cars, BMWs also require meticulous care. Having a car in your collection known for excellent engineering, you need to get it serviced on a regular basis. It may seem very simple, but it’s something that is overlooked far too often. By maintenance, we mean oil changes; air, oil & fuel filters replacement and just keeping up with any issues that may arise. It is up to you, whether you do it yourself, or take your car to a BMW service center.

If you do not look after your BMW, your car may break down while you are on the road. Moreover, the repairing charges for an under-maintained vehicle may cost you a lot. We have listed a few tips to help you keep your BMW in excellent condition.

1. Inspect your vehicle’s brakes

Faulty or worn out brakes can cost you and your family their lives. Therefore, it is advisable to check the brake pad linings on a regular basis. If the brake pedal becomes hard to push or you hear a grinding noise, it’s time to replace them.

2. Change the oil at regular intervals

To keep your BMW new car in excellent condition, it’s important to change the oil at regular intervals. Old engine oil gets dirty and abrasive. If you don’t replace, it will end up causing more damage to the engine.

3. Ensure your vehicle’s fluid levels are topped up

It is important to evaluate the coolant levels in your car; otherwise, it could overheat and break down. If you notice a wet puddle under the car after it has been standing for hours, the chances are that there is a leak in your car's cooling system. A regular check of your vehicle’s brake fluid and gearbox fluid levels is also necessary.

4. Check your vehicle’s tyres

It is dangerous to drive with over or under-inflated, worn or damaged tyres. This may result in an accident due to a blow-out and may charge you a lot of repair cost.

5. Check your car’s battery

Keeping a check on your battery is essential. Clean it from time to time as dirt can cause the battery to overheat, reducing the battery’s lifespan.

6. Replace the air filter at regular intervals

The car's air filter prevents polluted air from entering the fuel intake system. The car engine's performance and fuel efficiency will be compromised, if it becomes clogged and dirty. Hence, replace the air filters at regular intervals.

When buying a BMW from an authorized dealer like OSL Prestige, you can have a list of things to do to keep your car in excellent condition, even after years from now.
