profession of Pharmacy has great potential. However, the role of pharmacist and
his contribution to the society is not clearly understood in Indian
subcontinent. This article would brief what this profession is bestowed with.

pharmacist is a very significant link between doctors, nurses, and patients.
They can work as community pharmacist in a drug store or a pharmacy. India has
a population of 130 crores and 11.57
lakh doctors. Such a large
disproportionate doctor patient ratio has created the considerable role
of pharmacist. He is always available to the patients to interact with
them and sort their queries. In fact, the patients are very comfortable with
pharmacist. They clear their doubts without hesitation. A pharmacist in
hospital has a handsome salary and comfortable working shifts.
Indian
Pharmaceutical Industry is growing and has provided large number of job
opportunities to pharma professionals. The Pharmaceutical Industry flourishes
on the basis of research of newer safer and consumer friendly drugs.
Pharmacists are thus strongly motivated to carry out research activities. They
are in high demand for research and formulation development of drugs.

has become a centre for carrying out clinical research studies. Due to large
number of population and needy people, trials
are being conducted on Indian population as subject. This has opened a new
field for pharmacists for clinical and toxicological studies.

research has also added to the vibrant prospective to the pharmacist.

medications.
Increasing
number of USFDA approved Pharmaceutical Manufacturing units, High import of
generic drugs from India is a clear indication of Pharmacist growth and his
future prospects. The profession of Pharmacy in India is versatile and growing
.The job opportunities are increasing with
upcoming areas include Nuclear
pharmacy, Psychiatric pharmacy and forensic Pharmacy. This is one of the most
trustworthy Profession. A pharmacist is a pride of Healthcare system in India.
