Strategy for Cracking the SBI PO Exam

by Vidya Guru Coaching Institute
The State Bank Group occupies a pride of place in India’s banking sector. The group includes the State Bank of India and its associate banks. It is the first preference of almost every bank job aspirant. Moreover, the remuneration that SBI & its associates offer is significantly higher than that offered by other public sector banks. Hence, SBI PO exam is undoubtedly the most competitive bank recruitment exam in the country.

One of the most important aspects about finding success in your SBI PO exam is to not be in denial about the challenges you are about to face. While keeping in mind the tough competition, it is important that you set realistic goals and arrive at the examination hall fully prepared

While taking the exam, here are a few things you must definitely keep in mind

1. Arriving with a Clear Plan of Action
The first thing your SBI coaching professors will tell you is that you must arrive at the examination hall with a proper plan. Be clear about which section you will be attempting first and how much time you will be devoting to each of the sections. Furthermore, it is important that you stick to your schedule. For instance, if you have assigned 40 minutes to the reasoning section, make sure you do not spend an extra minute here than necessary. It is easy to get carried away while solving difficult questions, but you will only be sacrificing time which should otherwise go into tackling other sections.

2. Attempt the Exam in Two Rounds
While attempting the exam, make sure you do so in two rounds. At first, you should pick up those questions which you can answer relatively easily. Each of these questions will usually take less than a minute to solve. Leave the more challenging questions for round two. This way you will not miss out on any scoring questions just because you ran out of time.

3. Be Aware of the Sectional Cut Off
Remember that in addition to clearing the overall cut off, you also have to score a minimum level of marks in each section in order to clear the exam and get an interview call. Thus, you should be able to clear the overall cut off and also demonstrate your competence across all sections.

4. Be Aware of Negative Marking
While each correct answer brings you 1 mark, wrong answers attract a penalty of 0.25 marks. However, there is no negative marking for questions that aren’t attempted. If you are totally unsure of a question, it is advisable that you leave it instead of trying to attempt it.

In addition to this, it is recommended that you take only measured risks and be cautious while taking the exam. Most institutes for SSC Coaching in Delhi also provide classes for SBI PO exam. Take their help in mastering the art of appearing for the exam so that you can beat the competition with ease.
