Steps for Preparing your Room for Painting
by Steven Williams Cleaning services specialistIf you are about to paint your room a few things should be done in advance to make the process easier. It may sound strange, but sometimes the preparation will take you more than the actual painting. But it is worthy to spend some time prior to the painting to achieve best results later.
At the beginning remove the pieces of furniture
that may get stained. Larger items that are not that easy to be removed
can be covered with newspapers or old clothes and moved to the centre
of the room where the chance of getting stained is not huge. For doors
and windows you can use removable "safety" asking tape.
If
you have smoke detector in your home, you have to cover it with a
plastic bag and turn off air-conditioning during sanding or painting.
To
sand or scrape loose paint you can use sandpaper and paint scrapers.
Then fill all nail and screw holes with spackling compound. Cracks
should be filled with caulk.
Sometimes you have to do more serious repairs. For example, you may need epoxy filler on woodwork. Just remember that whatever you are going to use you should sand it down until it matches the area around it.
Cleaning
professionals, such as upholstery cleaning at Melbourne specialists,
recommend to use trisodium phoshpate in order to clean the dirt and
debris. Then rinse thoroughly with water, dust and vacuum.
Next
you have to turn off the electricity to the room and only then to
remove the cover plates from all electrical fixtures and switches. Use
masking tape for switch handles and outlets to avoid painting them
accidentally. As a precaution it is best to keep the electricity off
during the whole process.
Use plastic bags to cover items that are not protected yet. Also remove the cover plates from light fixtures.
When
it comes to the cleaning when you are done with painting, you can
either spend a few hours and do it yourself or contact professional
cleaners and save time and efforts.
