Smart Ways To Survive Office Politics

by Visaka News News headlines from Visakhapatnam
Dealing with office politics can be challenging, sometimes. With workplaces expanding, the room for office politics within organizations is also widening. Sooner you realise the better it is that office politics is an inevitable part of an organization. Are you finding it hard to survive in office politics? Or are you too lost in work politics that you can not focus on the work in hand? Well, don’t you worry! We’ve come up with a few ways in which you can deal as well as survive office politics!

Here we go!

  • Live at peace with your office colleague: One of the simplest ways to maintain a safe distance with politics whether it is Vizag politics or any other politics is learning to be social. It is not that you’ve to embrace your colleagues tight and pat them on their backs when they do something unethical. It is more like being amicable and professional simultaneously. In circumstances where an issue arises, try to invest your energy on the issue itself, avoid targeting individuals personally. Learn to say no to unimportant things politely. Explain the reasons behind the denial and as far as possible, find out suitable alternatives. When I say that live at peace with others too, I simply mean that you’ve to be cautious enough while favoring one of the parties in conflict. If you find it right, you can stay neutral neither this nor that way. This is appropriate enough considering the fact that when you’ll favor one party over the other, it will also hinder your growth as well as performance. The best way to avoid office politics altogether is to stop about it. The more you talk about the politics, the more separated you’ll feel from the groups in power.
  • Don’t engage into conversations that do not fall into ‘school’: Every organization has some or other internal issues. There are like-minded people in the organization who form groups and share their dark secrets with each other. Remember, if someone tells his/her personal issues to you, then one thing is certain that he/she trusts you. Don’t you think it is your sole responsibility to keep his words and secrets confidential? Often, professionals tend to converse openly with third parties about the prevailing issues within their organization. Doesn’t it sound inappropriate? You’re entrusted with the power of setting the right image of your organization. Don’t forget that!
  • Be someone who is there for people: Never miss an opportunity to help someone. Is your office colleague having a hard day at work? Talk to her/him and ask her/him if you could do anything to make them feel better. Share lunch boxes, strive up bonds and build enduring relations with your office colleagues. It does not take much to help people who really need it. As they say be kind to anyone around as you don’t know what they’re dealing with. Create a favorable image of yourself, set an example and let others follow your league.
  • Be a straight arrow: In Vizag politics, straight arrow is a terminology to describe someone who is far away from politics. Accept your mistakes with a smile on your face, practice what you preach, if you sense something fishy, immediately alert the people around you. It is not necessary that people will agree to your viewpoints every time but what really matters is that you won’t be trapped in the political web. Avoid trouble, be a straight arrow. Sounds, fair enough?
