Signs Your Car Battery Is Dying

There are several warning signs that can help any motor operator know if it is time to change the battery. Cars usually have a warning sign or a light on the dashboard indicating that then battery is slowing down.

If you do not pay attention to the health of your battery, you might end up stranded in the middle of nowhere ad this can be very risky. To avoid this, here are a few signs that you can look out for to know if it is time to visit the car battery store. 

  • Electrical Issues and Dim Lights

A battery powers all electronic aspects of the vehicle. From the radio to the dashboard computer and lights. If it is losing its power, it will not be able to power everything else fully. This will result in dim lights and more. You might not even be able to charge your phone from your car.

  • Slow Starting Engine

As you use the battery the components inside it wear out and become less effective. When this happens it will take your battery longer to create a charge for the starter. In other words and you will have to wait some extra seconds for the engine to start. This is mostly the last gasp before the battery dies.

  • A Bad Smell

When there is some internal short or damage to the battery, it mostly causes some gas leak. If you feel the smell of rotten eggs when you open the hood of your vehicle, chances are that it is caused by a leaking battery. This needs to be checked out immediately.

  • The Check Engine Light Is On

The check engine light can mean anything in most vehicles and it may also come on when your battery is dying.  Never ignore this light get your battery tested by an expert mechanic to see if it is working as it should If not, get it replaced. Remember, always leave battery Installation to the experts.

  • Corroded Connectors

Have you noticed any white, ashy substance on the metal parts of your battery? If yes, then you have a corrosion issue. When terminals are corroded they will lead to a voltage issue. This will affect how your vehicle starts.
