Significance of NGOs in the Developing Society

by Qarah Ict Qarah ICT

NGOs are non-governmental and non-profitable organizations that work strategically for a mission to support humanity and objects of common social good. These organizations are voluntary associations of people and communities that work at different levels, including regional, state, national, and international. The strategies and methodologies may differ at all levels, but all work towards a common goal of meeting people's needs in the best possible ways.

NGOs partner with various government organizations, private companies, or public firms. The volunteers in the organizations help the common man fulfill their basic needs and live a life of esteem. This not only helps to strengthen the canvas of civil societies but also helps reduce the existing status gap.

The roles of NGOs in the developing world are quite critical; their responsibilities and work span different levels and fields. To perform all those tasks with utmost accuracy and efficiency, NGOs are quickly becoming more structured and organized. These non-governmental and non-profit organizations mainly run on donations and charities, and they work with the motto of effective development at the grass root level, which can bring a radical change in the progress of society as a whole.

The Role of the NGOs

With time, the country has experienced rapid growth, but the development has not been able to touch every level of society in the same way. On the one hand, when more and more people are becoming habituated to an annual foreign trip, a significant part of society can hardly earn bread for a day. NGOs take significant steps to reach these grassroots levels and help them have a better life through their development.

The responsibilities of an NGO in a developing society are not restricted to extending help to the poor. These organizations often provide essential services in the developing world, mainly taken care of by government agencies or institutions in developed countries. Still, the NGOs take a leading part in several other social issues, including child and women trafficking, child and adult education, extending proper medical care to people with physical or mental disabilities, and also several other aspects, which are designed with the same motto of development of the deprived class.

Specializations Yield Better Service

As already said, NGOs have to deal with different social issues in a developing society. To provide the best help in every respect, NGOs have diversified and specialized according to their primary goals. This has helped these organizations concentrate on some particular people sectors and help them more effectively. Some NGOs work closely with the UN or other international organizations; some work alone and depend mainly on charity.

They firmly believe that the disadvantaged need opportunities, not charity. Their focus is to bring about a positive change in the lives of the most vulnerable people in their society. With this aim, they partner with grass root programs. At National NGO for Social Empowerment, they bridge the gap between such NGOs and corporates or individuals who wish to support development work in the country, thus enabling each organization to concentrate on its core activity.
