Should you buy a liquid paste wax with cleaner? Let’s find out together

by Digital Solution Expert Digital Solution Expert

Vehicle paint surface protection has a long and illustrious history. Wax is, without question, the most well-known and widely used ingredient for keeping paint protected from the elements and appearing crisp. Car wax comes in various forms, each with its own application process. When you break them down, you’ll notice that they’re two completely separate products: paste wax and liquid wax.

While wax is thought to be one simple product, comparing paste and liquid wax is like comparing apples and oranges. Paste wax is made from natural ingredients, whereas liquid wax is made in a lab or is synthetic. So, this nicely sets the stage for our discussion today: should you invest in buying a liquid paste wax with cleaner? Or just keep cleaning your car with water?

Let’s break down the facts, look at the benefits, and then you can make a more informed decision and provide your car with the attention and maintenance it needs to function for a long time.

What exactly is paste wax?

Copernicia Prunifera is the word of the day today. Let us provide a definition before you open another tab and Google it. Copernicia Prunifera is the scientific name for a palm tree native to Brazil that secretes natural carnauba wax to protect its enormous leaves.

The wax is “squeezed” from the palm tree’s leaves, then processed and mixed with bee’s wax or turpentine to make the final paste wax product.

It is applied by hand, with the paste component being placed on an applicator pad and then rubbed into the paint surface in a circular pattern. The paste wax is wiped off with a polishing pad or microfiber towel after it has flashed or hardened for a few minutes. Natural carnauba paste wax usually comes in two varieties. The most natural result is a yellow-tinted paste wax, but a white paste wax is less concentrated and thus less expensive. Natural paste wax treatments can provide protection for up to three months.

What are the ingredients in car paste and liquid wax?

We all want to know what’s in the items we use, especially when it comes to car care. While it’s common to believe that wax is a single-source commodity, the truth may surprise you. Some of these ingredients are present in larger or lower amounts in different paste and liquid wax formulations.

·       Carnauba wax is obtained from the palm tree. It’s all-natural and organic, and it’s the secret sauce that protects you.

·       Beeswax is a wax found in honeycombs that aid in the adhesion of carnauba wax to paint.

·       Natural oils are emollients, which offer luster, sheen, and protection to the clear coat surface of the paint.

·       Synthetic Polymers refer to silicones or plastics made in a laboratory. Paint sealants contain this as the main constituent. It provides the same level of durability as carnauba wax but with a lot less sheen.
