Sharing Online Activity: Feedback Requested

by Neville Dinning Grey Nomad Working Online
Experimenting with Branding and Sharing Online Activity.

With the help of a magazine article that introduced some CSS and Javascript coding I have developed a (for want of a better word) tool to do some photo sharing.

This example is from my recent travels, and features photographs of some birds sighted during the travels.

While I was working on it I thought that it could also be adapted to use as a method for sharing things other than photos.

The example I chose was to feature some of the APSense Brand Pages, and in the example the logos for some of the Brands were also made to be clickable. That then encouraged me to think further about the possibilities for this "tool".

The next thing to work on is to build my own personal brand by creating a gallery page that has links to the affiliate products that I am marketing, my own sites, the social media sites that I have joined, etc.

The reasoning behind this project is that producing a page like this will:
  • Put all of the things that I am promoting in one place where it is easy to find them, both for me and for other people.
  • Become a snapshot of my "Brand". People can see what types of activity I am involved with, and if they like what they may follow up on
  • It introduces interactivity. People will be encouraged (enticed?) into dragging the cards around. By doing that it will focus their attention on the contents of the card, increasing the potential that they will click for more information.
  • provide a single site that can be shared and promoted in many different locations.

I encourage you to look at the examples in the links above, and respond to these questions by way of comments below.

  • Do you see potential for using a tool like this in your marketing/business/personal website? If yes, please outline how you see it being useful.
  • Will the interactive nature of the gallery attract interest and potential customers to find out more information about the products.
  • If I can find a way to turn this into an application you could use, would you be interested in obtaining a copy? (There is still a lot of work to do before that stage is reached.)

I love the idea because of the reasons you stated yourself in the article. I sure would be interested to have a copy. It would also be suited to arrange a portfolio in a playful way. I do that on sites like Pinterst also but the advantage of this system would be that people don't have to scroll down to see all.

Nice photo tool that I could use for clients Neville, great shots. I see by dragging the image, the page scrolls. Is there a limit to how many images you can place on the page?

It's a great tool, Neville. It could certainly be one of those that could be extended to many different uses.

@Selya, thanks for the feedback. I have not really tested it beyond 8 images, but I believe that a page could hold an unlimited number of photos. I hope to build an application (anad maybe a WP plugin) that can be used to set up a gallery like this with any coding required by the user. At this stage it requires some html skill to set up a page.
