Seven days? Really?
by Arthur Webster Just plain honestyOn the second day God created light and saw that it was good. God called the light 'day' and the dark 'night'.
On the fourth day God created two lights, one to rule over the day time and one to rule over the night.
I wonder why creationists do not have a problem with this apparent duplication of effort - and where do they suppose the light created on the second day went to?
So God created man in His own image. Male and female created He them.
Hmmm. So where did the story of Adam's rib come from and why was it necessary?
And God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed and every tree in which is the fruit bearing seed; to you it shall be for meat. To every beast of the earth and every fowl of the air wherein there is life I have given every green herb for meat" and it was so.
These précis of the opening verses from Genesis make it quite clear that man and animals were to be vegetarian by nature. The dominion over the earth that God granted to man was not an open licence to slaughter and ingest His creations, indeed it was what it was said to be "dominion".
Once the opening chapter of Genesis is completed it would appear that "man" decided that this was not a viable truth and changed it. "Male and female created He them." needed to be 'mystified' to ensure the wonderment of the the population at large at the 'knowledge' of the priests who butchered the first chapter and added their own money-making ideas.
The first chapter of Genesis does not say how many males and females God created and that was damned inconvenient for the priesthood. How could they manipulate the ignorant and generate a killing impulse if all men were God's own creation?
Instead of adding this chapter to the 'discard' list, the priests treated it as internet marketers now treat PLR - they re-wrote it but left it in circulation!
This arrogant and self-seeking manipulation of Genesis is symptomatic of the whole of the Bible. Where priests required a money making opportunity they created chapters and books that 'empowered' them to perform highly paid pseudo-religious ceremonies. They took upon themselves the ability to forgive sins, to cast out devils, to sell indulgences to forgive the most heinous sins, to marry people and the very worst of all of the sacrileges of the priesthood, they decided that they were the voice of God on this Earth and claimed to have direct contact with Him.
Since priests are such consumate liars and manipulators of what they claim to be the God-inspired writings that they have selected to form the Bible, why would we believe that the universe was created in six days? Indeed, why would we believe anything they choose to tell us?

Just plain honestyHi Kukuahana, the bible is a book created by men to perform a simple task - to agrandise and enrich the clergy. There are many instances where there is obvious manipulation of the writings that are included but the book of Genesis is the most distorted and reprehensible of them all. Bible study is a bit like the study of Shakespeare, it brings pleasure and a great insight into the human condition but only a personal relationship with God can truly expose the falsehoods. The bible is the tool by which the eligious community maointains its control over the masses and continues to aquire greater riches on Earth - a basic sin(?). If you choose to do wrong, it is your fault. If the church tells you a load of lies, it is only your fault if you believe the lies. God gave man a brain so that he could ask questions. He also gave him native cunning so that he could detect lies, greed and blasphemy. Aug 12th 2011 12:06 |

Just plain honestyI am saying that the bible and the truth are very far apart. The bible is the hand-book of the very first MLM opportunity - religion. Everything that is in the bible is geared to be translated into a money making process by a greedy priesthood. If you look at the very first chapter in the Bible you will see it written that God created male and female in undisclosed numbers. In the second chapter God created a single man and then took a rib off him to make woman. How can you say that the bible is truth when it lies about the creation of man right at the start? Even the ten commandments (which no christian church obeys) are only a re-write of the Hamurabi code of living - and even that was not original. The truth of God is written in His works, not in the words of man - no matter what he claims. Aug 16th 2011 01:36 |

Just plain honestyThe decision about my destination when I die is not mine to make. I do not believe that God intended His teachings to be turned into excuses for genocide, wholesle murder and the creation of a corrupt and greedy priesthood. I do believe that God, in His great wisdom, gave man a brain with which to consider his own position in the social structure and to question his own existence. The heaven that so many christians seem to acknowledge holds little attraction for me - nor do I see God as being so vain that He would require eternal worship from His own creation. God is better than that. Aug 17th 2011 02:31 |

EntrepreneurI will pray for you so that He will touch your heart to hear His voice of Truth. Yes, God IS greater than that, but He wants, more than anything else, for us to be in a deep relationship with Him. He IS a jealous God, and wants us to have NO other before Him, including ourselves. Just plain honestyI believe that God resides within me and that He feeds my thirst for knowledge. There is little that I have discovered that begins to explain why an all powerful and all knowing God would have any need at all for anything as insignificant as man-kind. God's truth is probably so far beyond the comprehension of mankind that the expression "pearls before swine" immediately springs to mind. Regardless, I shall conntinue to look for answers to the questions that He prompts in my mind. I thank you for your prayers. Aug 18th 2011 02:44 |

The point of the Bible is to have the Spirit of God lead you into a deeper understanding of the Word, not to take the word of anybody who professes to know what it means. Many times in Bible study, the person leading the group will do a disservice to the group by going around the room asking everybody what the passage meant to them, when it should be asked, "What did the Spirit mean in this passage?" "Blaming" a "religious" leader for your view on the Bible is like my blaming others for the wrongs I have done in my life.......it's ludicrous! When you have a relationship with God you realize that the Bible is the inspired word of God and the Spirit of God will show you the meaning of that Word. I will pray for Him to guide you to that meaning. GOD BLESS YOU!!
