Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 starts receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update

by Tuan Tu Hồ Chí Minh
The Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 is the latest Samsung smartphone that's being updated to Android 7.0 Nougat.

We reported to you yesterday that the Nougat roll-out started for the Galaxy S5 Neo, a device that was launched on the market two years ago, but the Galaxy J7 (2016) is a much newer phone.

The move doesn't come as a surprise since Samsung had started testing Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy J7 (2016) back in June. Two months later the update is ready to be pushed to devices around the globe.

However, for the time being, only Galaxy J7 (2016) units in Russia are eligible for the update. But this is standard procedure and we're expecting Samsung to expand the rollout to additional countries in the coming weeks.

It's worth noting that firmware version J710FXXU3BQHA contains the August security patch beside the usual Nougat-related new features and improvements. If you live in Russia, then you should also know the update weighs in at 970MB, so make sure you have enough free storage before attempting to download the file.

Finally, Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) qualifies for an Android 8.0 Oreo update since it was released on the market one year ago. Unfortunately, we won't be getting a confirmation from Samsung, but we'll certainly know before the update hits the phone if the South Korean company decides to give the green light.
