Located in the town of Salasar, of Churu district, and at a distance of 175 km from Jaipur, Salasar Balaji’s temple is one of the most famous religious spots for the devotees of Lord Hanuman. Along with its many interesting legends, one other thing that makes the temple special is the belief that the idol in the sanctum is as a “Swayambhu”, meaning self-created.

How to Get to Salasar?

The best route, when going from Jaipur to Salasar Balaji by taxi, is to take the National Highway 52, which connects Jaipur with Chomu, Reengus, and Sikar. The journey barely takes 3 hours if you have booked a Jaipur to outstation by car package. NH 52, being a national highway, is as good as anything.

The nearest airport to Salasar is in Sanganer, Jaipur. A road trip from where would take only three hours and a half to reach the destination.

In the Town

The town of Salasar, as per legends, was once a small village that came into existence only after the diety’s idol was discovered. The town is mostly managed and run by priests of the temple, who are also responsible for conducting annual and monthly fairs in the town. The place is filled with numerous places to rest and eat, offering visitors with enough comforts to finish their pilgrimage. Among the many events conducted in the town, the fairs of  Chaitra and Ashvin Purnima are the most famous, attracting devotees in thousands every year.

Salasar’s significance also grows exponentially due to its location of religious significance. This is because the other places of religious importance, like the Rani Sati Temple, Jeen Mata, and Khatushyamji, are only located at a distance of a few hours. While the Jeena Mata temple and Khatushyamji are only 1 hour away, Rani Sati temple is only at a distance of 175 km, making it a direct ride of 3 hours.

The Hanuman Temple

Looked after by the priest belonging to Dhandhich clan, the Hanuman Temple of Salasar was first constructed by  Mohandas Maharaj in 1754. The initial construction was done using mudstone, while the whole process was monitored by the craftsmen Noora and Dau. The temple was later rebuilt and renovated using cement and white marble, among other things. One can easily find an abundance of silver in the premise. Be it the Sanctum, the vestibule, the prayer hall, or even the utensils, nothing seems to left out from the silver touch.

The temple’s architecture, the spirit of visitors, and the positive surroundings definitely make the place worth for a stay of day or two. And one can only do that if they have decided to go Jaipur to Salasar Balaji by taxi. Being on one of the most famous religious circuits of India, Salasar Balaji is loved by people of all sects and religions. So if you have booked your Jaipur to outstation by car package, don’t forget to have Salsarsar’s trip for a religious addition.
