Sailing Croatian Islands: Things You Should Know

by Naleia Yachting Tour Organizer

With more than a thousand islands and a thousand miles of shoreline, Croatia is one of the most beautiful places in the world to go sailing. With a magnificent coastline, clear waters and beautiful beaches, Croatia lures increasing numbers of visitors for sailing vacations every year. Here are a few tips that you’d love to keep in mind when planning to sail Croatian islands.

Where to go if you have a week:

I’d recommend cruising from Split to Dubrovnik or vice-versa. This lets you explore all of Croatia’s most acknowledged islands and the beautiful cities of Dubrovnik and Split. The distances involved are short, so generally there will only be between five and seven hours of cruising every day and adequate time to relish each destination.

Best months to sail in Croatia:

In Croatia, the yacht charter season begins in May and runs to October. Climate is generally fabulous, with gorgeous sunny days. While the sea starts very cold, it gets warm by early July and is at its warmest in late August. The best month to charter in Croatia is September as yachts are 15-20 percent cheaper than in July & August. The climate is still beautiful, the sea is warm, and the crowds are less in number.

Sailing yacht or motor yacht:

As there’s so much to explore while covering considerably small distances, sailing yachts are the best option for Croatia.

Fast motor yachts aren’t especially famous in the Adriatic. The critical thing is that a yacht has ample outdoor space and is comfortable at anchor.

Why spilled is the best place to start your sailing adventure?

The 2nd largest city in Croatia, Split is an excellent place to commence a charter as the most beautiful islands of Hvar, Korcula and Brac are just a short cruise away. Split & the adjacent areas are also home to the majority of the largest marinas in Croatia, so this is where most of the yachts are based. Split itself is a fantastic city with a long history.

Conclusion:

Croatia’s exceptional coast has long enticed rich sailors to its shores, but now, with dozens of operators providing reasonably priced sailboat charters, it doesn’t have to be the exclusive cruising ground of the wealthy. With more than 3,000 boats on the charter market in Croatia, there are myriad options when it comes to choosing a boat, charter or cruise in Croatia. However, if you don’t have experience sailing or you only wish to relax and be taken care of by a seasoned crew, you can charter a yacht to sail Croatian islands merrily.
