Russian Doll – Also Known As Matryoshka and Babushka Doll

Matryoshka, a Russian doll is a wooden doll that possess numerous layers of the doll but smaller. The word Matryoshka is derived from the Russian word "Mat" which means mother. The source of the Matryoshka is considered Japan where it is known as god of seven lucks. The first Russian Matryoshka doll was manufactured by Sergey Malyutin in the year 1891. On the first glance, it is aimed to teach up young children. During this time period, people of many diverse culture and tradition lived in Russia. On every Russian doll, folk based costume was painted on every layer to teach the kids about different cultures.

It turns quite well known when it finds the grand prize at the World's Fair in Paris, France. After that, it turns a representation of Russian residents, civilization and past background. Soon after the Russian Revolution in 1917, representation of ideology was forbidden, only the masks of Russian farmers stay on the doll.
