Running a Marathon at 2012 Olympics

This year running a marathon in the 2012 Olympics will not be an easy task for those athletes who wish to break the Olympic record or even try and win a medal.. The Organizers of the summer Olympic games have planned a route which has over 100 curves and turns through the narrow streets of London.

This means that the professional runners who will want to run the Olympic race will have a hard time to slow before the curves and speed up the running pace as they leave the curve. They will have 10-15 complete U turns to run through which can ruin any runner's running plan.

Runners will have to prepare themselves for such a run, which will not allow them to open large strides and use their natural speed to complete the 42km marathon run. Most professional marathon runners use Garmin Forerunner 610, this watch was chosen at 2011 and at 2012 as the best watch for marathon runners. 

In the summer games the marathon will be different than the regular open events, because all the runners are professional runners who have great personal results. The best runners from each country will be there at the start line at The Mall street near the Buckingham Palace.

The good part of the London marathon course is that it goes through the heart of London, so millions of spectators could watch the marathon event, which is probably the only open event where spectators do not need tickets to watch an Olympic event.
