Royal Jordanian: The Pride Of Jordan

Formed in the sixties, Royal Jordanian was initially a private shareholding venture but was eventually taken over by the Jordanian government. During its initial years, it had a very small fleet of aircraft, which catered to passengers flying to only some major cities in the Arab countries nearby. It was only in the year 1970 that the older aircraft were phased out and jetliners added to the fleet. This enabled the airlines to not only arrange flights to major cities in the Middle Eastern region but also to relevant cities in the continents of Europe, America and Asia. 

The decades of the eighties and the nineties saw several expansions in the infrastructure as well as special agreements with relevant agencies by Royal Jordanian to try to provide better facilities and services to its passengers. Among the steps included the induction of wide-bodied jetliners from Airbus into the fleet as well latest technologies being adopted to cater to the passengers’ ticketing and other needs. The airline has always taken the initiative in adopting the latest technology and infrastructure to provide its passengers the best facilities. 

Royal Jordanian has always been a profitable venture for the Jordan government due to its monopoly in the country. There are many other airlines from Europe and the Middle East that now operate flights in and out of Jordan, but the airline has maintained its Numero Uno status. Adaptability to newer standards of excellence has only improved its operational excellence and consequently the airline’s popularity among passengers. It has constantly strived to provide the best possible services to its passengers on local as well as international flights. 

Royal Jordanian has been among the first airlines from the Middle East in adopting newer methods of customer service and has even had strategic tie-ups with airlines and government agencies from the west. This has eventually helped it in improving its customer service record and consequently its profitability. Over the last two decades, the airline has purchased jetliners not only from Airbus but also from Boeing, and this has increased its acceptability among the American and European passengers. They are as comfortable flying with Royal Jordanian as they would be with any of the other top airlines of the world.

What is fascinating is that Royal Jordanian has been at the forefront in employing native women pilots and is perhaps the only Middle Eastern airline to do so. Jordan as a country is also quite unique, as it maintains very good relations with the West despite having strong Arab roots. The airline remains exceptional in its approach retaining the Arabian essence of an exotic flying experience while integrating it with highest levels of satisfactory customer engagement at all times. For reasons like these and more, customers not only from the Middle East but also from all over the world prefer flying with the airline as and when possible.
