Routine Vehicle Maintenance Prevents Auto Accidents

by Robert J. Debry Personal Injury Legal Experts

When you’re out driving, whether in Salt Lake City or on a country road, safety should always be the highest priority. Sometimes it’s a hassle, but have you recently done the routine maintenance on your vehicle? Making sure this maintenance is taken care of on your vehicle could prevent you from having to contact an auto accident lawyer in the future.

There are handful of maintenance things you should regularly check, especially if you are planning a long road trip. To check these basic things you don’t need to be a rocket scientist or a lawyer, just simply take a look — or if you don’t feel comfortable under the hood, take your car to a professional.

Brakes

It’s important to make sure your brakes are in good condition. Worn brake pads can damage rotors and lead to more serious problems. If you’re leaking brake fluid, eventually your brakes will fail and that could cause a fatal auto accident.

Tires

Driving on bald tires may seem harmless, but in reality it can be extremely dangerous. In rainy or icy weather, a good set of tires may be the only thing between life and death. It’s important that you have good traction beneath you to keep you in control.

Antifreeze

If you live in a city like Salt Lake City, it gets cold in the winter time. Without proper antifreeze in your vehicle, your engine could have problems — problems that could potentially cause an auto accident. Make sure you have the correct antifreeze for your vehicle.

Fluids

It’s important to regularly check the oil, transmission fluid and power steering fluid of your vehicle. If any one of these fluids leaks or malfunctions it could mean danger on the road. If you are planning a road trip out of Salt Lake City, you’ll need to make sure to check your fluids first to avoid having to call an auto accident lawyer.
