Romantic Story - Part 1 - The Woman with the Lanyard

Beautiful women walking by the train with her lanyard

Have you ever heard or read the stories of the strange, yet expected, places and incidences where two people have found one another? They were just two people going about their normal day, commuting to work or out on a run, and then they just met, fell in love and lived happily ever after. We’ve all heard the story right; but how many couples do you actually know found love like this? I’m guessing not many.

Well, I am one; I met the most incredible women on my way home from work on the train, believe it or not. It was back in March, I remember the exact date: Thursday 5th March on my train home from work…

I had been so eager to get home after a very hectic day at work since I arrived in the office at 8.15am that same morning. When you know you’re in for a busy day before even starting you know just how much you look forward to going back home. You see, I work at a very prestigious banks’ head office based in London which is anything but a calm environment. All day I had to deal with countless individuals worrying about their businesses due to the looming pandemic which of course we are all very much aware of - COVID-19.

For around eight hours a day for five days a week I am at the centre of chaos; people not knowing what is going to happen due to the level of uncertainty, It really  did create a lot of worry and fear. After three days of the same intense workload, I could not wait to get back and unwind at home. Thank goodness it's Friday tomorrow I thought.

It finally came around to 16.30 where I can now get some relief and go home, I was so wrapped up in getting out of the door that I completely forgot my ID card on my desk, not realising until I reached down stairs to present my ID to the building security to realise- oh dammit it's on my desk. So, I had to race back up to my department, walk along the whole building to get to my desk just to retrieve my lanyard. The security and urgency to always have them was even more important now, than ever before.

Finally, lanyard in hand, I raced back downstairs to try and still make my 16:50 train home. The journey from work to the station was only five minutes so plenty of time.

At exactly 16:47 I boarded my train which was surprisingly not as busy as normal, I actually had more than two choices of seats. I found an empty seat very easily and was so relieved when I finally sat down. The first thing I did, after sitting down, was take off my lanyard and shove it in my bag that I placed on the floor between my feet- like usual.

Whilst fumbling to put away my lanyard, out of the corner of my eyes I could see a pair of bear legs walking towards me; they were so slender and tanned. They were very pleasing to the eye. It wasn’t long until I noticed that the legs stopped right in front of me, not wanting to look up right away I continued to face downwards towards my bag. The view of her legs turned into her knees as I realised that she was now sitting in front of me. I remember slowly beginning to look up from my bag to see the women who just sat in front of me.

Upon first glance, she literally took my break away...
