Rhinoplasty and Risks Related To It

by Matt Kakuk I am a writer.

The first impression is an old and very true saying. The way you look matters a lot in today's society. A nose plays a vital role in one's facial appearance. Many people are unhappy with the shape or size of their nose and go for a nose job, commonly known as rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is a very delicate procedure that comes with its own set of risks and complications. Some of the risks associated with a nose job are:

Bleeding

Excessive bleeding during and after rhinoplasty for teens can lead to severe complications. It can even result in death in some rare cases. Bleeding occurs when the blood vessels are damaged during the surgery. Since the process of rhinoplasty is quite delicate, the surgeon must take proper care to avoid any damage to the blood vessels.

To prevent bleeding after the plastic surgery in South Florida, the surgeon will use cautery, a process of burning the tissue to stop bleeding, or ligation, tying off the blood vessels. Cautery is more common as it is more effective in preventing bleeding.

Infection

Infections can occur at the incision site. It is important to take proper care after rhinoplasty for teens to avoid these types of infections. People with weak immune systems are more prone to complications.

To prevent infections, the surgeon will prescribe antibiotics. Common antibiotics used to prevent infections are erythromycin, clindamycin, and cephalexin. The surgeon will also clean the incision site with an antiseptic solution.

Nerve damage

The nerves can be damaged during nose plastic surgery, leading to numbness or paralysis of the facial muscles. The damage to the nerves is usually temporary and will resolve independently. However, in some rare cases, the damage can be permanent.

The surgeon will take care to avoid any damage to the nerves during the surgery. If necessary, the surgeon will use cautery to destroy the damaged nerve tissue.

Scarring

The incisions made during nose plastic surgery will leave scars. The scars will be more visible if the incisions are made outside the nose. Not only can the scars be visible, but they can also be quite painful.

The surgeon will use the proper technique to prevent scarring when making the incisions. The surgeon should also use the appropriate stitches to close the incisions.

Nasal Obstruction

Nasal obstruction can occur when the nasal passages are blocked due to swelling. It can also happen when the septum, the bone and cartilage that divide the nasal cavity, deviates. The nasal obstruction can lead to difficulty in breathing.

The surgeon will place the splints inside the nose to prevent nasal obstruction. The splints will support the septum and prevent it from deviating. The surgeon will also use the proper stitches to close the incisions after the plastic surgery in South Florida.

These are some of the risks associated with rhinoplasty. However, it is important to remember that the risks are very rare, and the chances of complications are very low.
